CantSleepWontSleep · 20/03/2009 20:55

What are your other 4 called?

tummytickler · 20/03/2009 20:58

Oh, the * are meant to be the ones we like best -- but its gone a bit weird sorry - not paying attention as ds is banging around upstairs!

i like jean and gwendolen

tummytickler · 20/03/2009 21:04

If i tell you my kids names then it will out me to anyone who knows me in rl, but never mind i can always change my name if i have to!

Siblings will be Iris (8 years), Eli (6 years), Pearl (4 Years) and Amos (nearly 2)

Phew! What a list! The ones I like are

Hilda - but this is right on the border between retro cool and 'thank goodness nobody uses that name any more'
Ailsa - lovely
Aphra - sadly neglected
Cordelia - but I always think of poor, thwarted Cordelia at the end of Brideshead Revisited
Delphine - tres chic
Euphemia - is Euphemia Millais a good role model or not?
Marigold - I am very pro flower names
Mildred - but I agree with you, not Millie
Myrtle - another flower name, yay!
Penelope - overdue for revival
Primrose - fabulous
Prudence - marvellous
Winifred - retro cool

Just one woman's witterings ....

Babbity · 20/03/2009 21:07

Primrose Shipman

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 20/03/2009 21:08

Well, with Iris and Pearl I think a floral name would be fabulous. Or Coral? Or Daphne?

MIAonline · 20/03/2009 21:23

Ailsa fits in well with your other DC names or Primose at a push. The rest on the list seem to be a bit more 'out there' than your DC names which are lovely with an edge but not too wacky iyswim! Though it must get more difficult everytime for you to choose a name.

Love: Mary, Dorothy, Cordelia, Gwendolen, Penelope.

Hate the rest, although Joni is so cute as a nn for Joan

jellybeans · 20/03/2009 21:36

Aphra is OK but dislike the others, sorry. Not keen on old people names at all, each to their own.

Servalan · 20/03/2009 21:41

I like:

Jean
Cordelia
Dorothy
Gwendolen
Penelope
Rita
Sally

daffodill6 · 20/03/2009 21:46

Rachybabes · 23/03/2009 12:03

I love your names, prefer Alice to Alisa though....traditional and beautiful !, xx

choosyfloosy · 23/03/2009 12:12

OK of your top 4 I think Joan. It's really flowering in my blood as I look at it - really due a big comeback.

I'm a bit too old to love your other top 4 ones, they are no doubt what you young people call 'cold', is that right?
