MrsMattie · 19/03/2009 17:49

Nadia is nice. Nadine is a bit...meh.

DanJARMouse · 19/03/2009 17:50

I love the name, my best friend is called Nadine.

If I wasnt so hell bent on traditional biblical type names, one of my DDs would have been Nadine.

ickletickle · 19/03/2009 17:51

Popular here in Germany but for slightly older people - our babysitter who's 20ish and quite a few of the 20-something mums I know are called Nadine. I quite like it.

screamingabdab · 19/03/2009 18:22

I like it if it's pronounced NadEEN, sadly you'd probably get people saying NAYdeen, which is not as classy.

If you are not sure, it's not the name for you. Keep going 'til a name grabs both of you (I'm envious, there are LOTS of lovely girls names, and i've got 2 DSs, so if you need any help....)

IwishIwereonthebeach · 19/03/2009 21:45

I think that the American pronunciation is Naydeen and UK is Nahdeen. I like it. There was a girl at my school who at only 6 was sooooo cool called Nadine (2nd pronunciation) She had red hair and a best friend called Shirley-Anne. I wanted to be their friend....

Babbity · 19/03/2009 21:46

I knew a Nadine now early 30s; she was NAHdeen

RachieB · 19/03/2009 22:16

I prefer Nadia,(Na)Talia or Naomi (going on N theme lol)

moondog · 19/03/2009 22:25

Chuck Berry sang about Nadine.
Great song.Great guy.

2Helenback · 20/03/2009 08:50

Does husband have a cute picture in his head where he sings "Naydeeeen, Honey is that you?" tunefully at the babe?

My husband has been harbouring this little fantasy based on the song the New Brunette by Billy Bragg and sees himself singing "Shiiiiiirley...." at expected baby.

It is not gonna happen.

I met a very posh Nadine on a campsite in St David's a few years ago; she was sprawled on washroom floor dying of her first ever period.

ickletickle · 20/03/2009 19:16

i think he is thinking na deen. if that makes sense. am now thinking the different pronunciations would do my/her nut in

ramonaquimby · 20/03/2009 19:19

pointydog · 20/03/2009 19:21

onelittletreasure · 21/03/2009 06:10

Nadine is lovely, but I agree with the above: Nadia is better! Good luck!!

bettany · 21/03/2009 07:27

I can't imagine Nadine at all for a little girl. Sounds quite hard and grown up.

Leannabanana · 21/03/2009 21:57

hmmm, i reckon he might like girls aloud nadine rather than the name.....i know my DH can't stop staring at her legs whenever she is on screen ha .

i don't really like the name sorry...

RachieB · 22/03/2009 09:11

she has the skinniest little legs !! lol

ADealingMummy · 23/03/2009 21:04
