We have a short list for a girl, I am goosed if this baby due in 5 weeks is a boy though. Any suggestions?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well, all I can say is, we have an Olivia, with a brother called Alexander. Other names for him were Sebastian, Dominic and Montgomery (Monty, obviously). Good luck in 5 weeks whatever name you choose.

Desiderata · 18/03/2009 23:11

I'm lost by your thread, katie!

Why must a boy's name go with Olivia? Your baby will either be a boy or a girl. If it's a girl, she'll be Olivia.

If it's a boy, he'll be something else. Why must it go with Olivia?

Desiderata · 18/03/2009 23:12

Oh! I kind of get it. You already have a child called Olivia.

I still don't get why a boy's name has to 'go' with it, though.

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 18/03/2009 23:20

.... because a lot of people don't want a jarring mismatch between their dcs names....

tarquin and sharon... mismatch

sharon and darren.... "go together"

tarquin and cassandra... "go together"

.... do you see??

onebatmother · 18/03/2009 23:23

Oscar. Orlando even better.

esp if you're planning a chi-chi children's clothing shop/web-site

ds is oscar btw so ffs don't diss it or else.

ShyTalk · 18/03/2009 23:29

No- they have a name for a girl - ie, Olivia. They are looking for a boys' name (in case it is a boy!) that sort of matches, 'cos that's what they want. Geddit?

onebatmother · 18/03/2009 23:36

erm, yup, goddit.

thumbwitch · 18/03/2009 23:39

oooh, OBM - I was going to say Oscar too! It just jumps out as going with Olivia.

Henry is pretty good as well.
or Jeremy.

FairLadyRantALot · 18/03/2009 23:48

you lot confuse me...I read it that op possoibly already has an Olivia and has a girl short list but no idea of boys name...might of course be wrong

well...I think Olivia is a name almost anything would work with...well...anything but Oliver, I suppose

How about
Noah
Jacob
Aaron
Eric
Finlay
Alexander
Ben
Ryan
James
Lucas
Christopher
Reece/Rhys

thumbwitch · 18/03/2009 23:49

That's what I thought too FLRAL.

FairLadyRantALot · 18/03/2009 23:50

...I mean, otherwise it wouldn't really make sesne why the name has to "go" would it? Just as Desi said in her pfirst post, before she came to the same conclusion

It makes sense if they are planning 2x children and want going-together names IYKWIM? This does presuppose one of each, which doesn't always happen. Of course, if this is not what the OP meant, I am blown out of the water!

thumbwitch · 19/03/2009 00:07

It makes sense if she already has a DD called Olivia too!

ShyTalk · 19/03/2009 00:26

Oui, thumbwitch.

But, seriously, nice names imo that are along the lines of Olivia imo are

George

mickeylou · 19/03/2009 11:53

there is a little girl in DS's nursery class named Olivia. her baby brother is Daniel - i think those names go really well together.
