Leo? Rather than Luca - A compromise for dh? It was on our original list.....

Teh fact that I am now thinking of other possible names makes me think that I just may not be able to "get over it.."

What is his name now? why are you changing it?

Luca is nice, amkes me think of that gorgeous Doc from ER

LittleMissWorryHead · 16/03/2009 14:18

His name now is Jacob - middle name is Luca. Been through many times with DH but he doesn't want to change and he's not keen on Luca as a first name....
I thought maybe if I suggest a completely different name it might make a difference....

Are you thinking of changing his name from Luca to Leo? How old is he?

nowwearefour · 16/03/2009 14:21

Jacob is SUCH a nice name! Leo is nice too but you do both need to be happy- that means you too and if you reall arent happy with Jacob then try to find something else that DH likes as well. FWIW i still hanker after another name for DD2 which i love- i love her actual name but like this other one just as much as find it hard when i meet other little girls called this other name!!! so i do think some name issues might be common even if you are happywith the one you have picked

LadyPinkofPinkerton · 16/03/2009 14:21

I saw your other thread LMWH, and Leo is lovely.

I really think you should change his name because it seems you're not going to get used to it as it is. Forget what others think of it and do what will make you comfortable long term

secondbump · 16/03/2009 14:23

Whats wrong with Jacob? Personally I prefer it to Luca. Why would you want to change his name???

Niecie · 16/03/2009 14:36

I have a Jacob who was nearly Jacob Luke (we toyed with Luca too).

He isn't often called Jacob though - he is Jakie which suits him as a little boy.

Anyhow, if you don't like it then you don't like it. I prefer Leo to Luca.

Have you tried giving him a nickname rather than changing his name completely, especially if everybody else in the family likes it. Just a special name for you to use?

GossipMonger · 16/03/2009 14:41

Luca is really only good if you are Italian (like my DH!! )

Does DH not like Jacob now either or is it just you?

Jacob can be Jake, Jakie, Jak. All of those are great.

DS2 was nearly Jake. I love it.

LittleMissWorryHead · 16/03/2009 14:45

DH is italian....I actually don't like any of the shortened versions of Jacob which is a bit of a problem!

OP posts:
LittleMissWorryHead · 16/03/2009 14:46

Oh, dh still likes Jacob

GossipMonger · 16/03/2009 14:46

Does DH not like Jacob anymore?

screamingabdab · 16/03/2009 14:55

I remember your old thread.

Leo is really nice

hulabula · 16/03/2009 21:42

Personally I wouldn't use Luca unless I had Italian links, which you do . Why does your dh not like Luca - is it too 'common' in Italy?

MmeLindt · 16/03/2009 21:44

I prefer Jacob to Luca.

What about Leonard instead of Leo.

Why do you want to change his name? Are you not happy or are others making you doubt your choice?

Concordia · 01/04/2009 23:35

hmm, i nearly went fo rthe compromise option on changing but then i thought i would regret the compromise too and want to change AGAIN and that would be unbearable for us both!
either decide to stick with Jacob or go the whole hog IMHO

gibbberish · 01/04/2009 23:39

Leo, Jacob and Luca are all lovely names so imo you can't go wrong.

Don't know the background, sorry, but my favourite is Luca. Sorry if that doesn't help.

jellybeans · 02/04/2009 09:44

I prefer Jacob

Madmentalbint · 02/04/2009 10:14

Jacob Luca is a lovely name.
I really like it

randomname · 02/04/2009 11:57

lucas?

Sari · 02/04/2009 12:02

If you go with Leo, be prepared to have Italian and English speakers pronouncing it in different ways. Ds1 and I are both in that sort of situation and we find it very annoying. At least Luca is Luca wherever you are (and I like it by the way).

BabyBaby123 · 02/04/2009 12:19

Jacob is nicer than Leo!

I like Luca though, but it will cause a lot of problems if you change it and your dh doesn't like the new name.

How old is your ds?

LittleMissWorryHead · 02/04/2009 18:02

Decision made
We have changed his middle name to Leonardo - then if Jacob is wrong for his when he is older, he can be Leo, and dh happy without Luca.

Form sent, i am waiting for the new birth certificate and I feel like a new woman!

ps. Where my fil is from in Italy, they pronounce it Lu-ha.....hence why dh was never keen....

I'm pleased you have made your decision LMWH, hope it feels like a huge weight has lifted and you can relax and get on with things

Madmentalbint · 03/04/2009 07:08

Jacob Leonardo - it sounds very nice indeed

savoycabbage · 03/04/2009 07:14

I'm pleased you have done it too as it was making you so sad. It's a lovely name.
