Isn't that some kind of Siren creature that lures sailors to their deaths? I could well be wrong.

Leannabanana · 08/03/2009 09:02

no you are right....but that hasn't put us off....

I like it.

Tidey · 08/03/2009 09:07

Well as long as the meaning doesn't have any bearing on it, yes I like it, it sounds very pretty.

piratecat · 08/03/2009 09:09

if you both like it then good, but i find it hard to wrpa me gnashers round tbh!!

Laurel, has same sound, could be shortened to Laurie?

Lilyloo · 08/03/2009 09:27

Very unusual lovely name , my niece is Lauris and i have never heard that anywhere and she is 16!

RachieB · 08/03/2009 16:04

it's a bit fussy for me
but like Lowri and Laurel/n

if you both like it go for it

squeaver · 08/03/2009 16:06

Gilmore Girls! Not that that's a negative.

janeite · 08/03/2009 16:07

I'm not so fond of it tbh; tis not a match for Hector imho.

Gunnerbean · 08/03/2009 16:18

I've never come across that name before so not sure how you pronnounce it. Is it a made up name?

Is it supposed to be pronnounced like Laura-Lee or Lori-Lee or Lorra-Lee (as in Cilla Black's lorra, lorra laughs?)

If I'm not sure how to pronnounce it then you can bet I won't be the only one.

McMummy · 08/03/2009 16:22

Love it!
Its "Lora lie" is it not?

Leannabanana · 08/03/2009 17:20

yes it is pronounced lora-lie...infact i quite prefer it spelt with an a as in loralei....My other daughter is Elliemae which rolls off the tongue in a similar way [to me any how] Lorelei was marilyn monroes role in gentlemen prefer blondes to as an alternative namesake....NN i'm sure would be Lolly which is sweet for a little'un....i hope i don't go off it in the coming months....

Isn't there rather a good Pogues song called Lorelei?
