Erin or Matilda?

I am due in 6 days and think we now only have 2 names left on the short list, don't know which to choose. Our surname is Wilton, which one do you like best? Would probably shorted Matilda to Mattie or Tilly.

erin....although Erica is nicer.

Go for Matilda or Tilda. Then it might sound a bit like Tilda Swinton...

I'd chose Erin if you have a Martha. Martha and Matilda sound a bit too matching for me. Both fine names though. As you have just the two I think waiting until your daughter is born is probably the best idea, then see which one seems right.

Erin is incredibly popular in the US. I would avoid it at all costs. I know 5 or 6 plus many adults. Tilly is prettier than Erin.

MATILDA! I despise the name erin. Angry

NewallKnowall · 20/07/2021 13:33

I don't think you can have Martha and Matilda together. They're v similar to my mind.

I know a Martha shortened to Matty so it would confuse me!

MATILDA! I despise the name erin.

Why on earth would you bump a 12 year old ZOMBIE thread just to post that? Very odd Confused

Classica · 20/07/2021 16:58

Very weird! Grin

Maybe...
An Erin is snogging someone she fancies
An Erin swiped the last box of Cornettos from the freezer aisle in Tesco
An Erin farted in the lift in work and told everyone it was @ponywony

Matilda. Overused but I don't like Erin at all.

Merryn is nice.

Matilda. Don't likeErin.

Marmite27 · 21/07/2021 12:16

Erin Wilton sounds better to me.

Matilda Wilton is too many til/ilt sounds to my ears.

I’ve nothing against Matilda, I have one of my own!

Marmite27 · 21/07/2021 12:19

@jojo2008

I think if our surname was short like "Jones" then Matilda Jones would be good, its just Wilton makes things a bit more complicated. Having an Erin day today! Thanks for all your comments so far- seem to have divided opinion! Our first little girl is Martha, that may sway which name you think we ought to go for.
If your first DD is Martha, definitely go for Erin.

It will cause untold arguments when post arrives for Miss M Wilton and the wrong one opens it.
