I only have 4 weeks to go and DH and I aren't agreeing on any names. Please give opinions on the following...

Boys - Elliot, Darwin, Zander
Girls - Avril, Evangeline, Raina

Any other suggestions welcome although I think we have gone through them all twice now...Help!

Elliot- Lovely name. I would spell it Elliott though.

Darwin- Makes me think of Australia. Not keen on place names used for first names IYKWIM.

Zander- Unusual. But quite nice.

Avril- Pretty.

Evangeline- Too 'churchy' as in evangelist!

Raina- Very unusual. Never heard this before.

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2009 14:03

I like Evangeline and Raina. Not at all keen on the others.

nailpolish · 03/03/2009 14:04

Elliot is my favourite of your boys names
great for a boy and an adult
Avril- really dont like this name.
Raina is lovely. i have a friend Rainey - shortened from Lorraine

Hassled · 03/03/2009 14:06

Darwin is a bit too unusual for me. Elliot is nice, as is Zander but I think he'll spend his life telling people it's not short for Alexander.

Evangeline is a bit porn-star to me . I don't like Raina. Avril is lovely, assuming she's born in APril.

I like Evangeline. I know a Raynor, but never seen a Raina before - I think I like it ...

Not keen on the boy's names - Alexander is a lovely name but not so keen on "just" Zander

brimfull · 03/03/2009 14:16

I like Raina,we have a Raine at work,Raina is nicer I think.

evangeline is nice,don't like avril

don't like any of the boys names-sorry

Issy123 · 03/03/2009 16:06

I like Elliot, but don't like any of the other names. But its just not my taste, I prefer traditional names. If we all liked the same thing it would be very dull.

wastingmyeducation · 03/03/2009 16:09

Zander looks spelt wrong, Raina looks made up.

The others however are lovely!

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 16:13

Elliot - v popular for some reason. Too feminine imo. No natural nn, Elle? Elly?

Darwin - Different, but do you know what? I really like it.

Zander- ok, but I@d put Alexander on the bc and call him xander.

Avril - ok, bit blah, but pretty.
Evangeline - no. But I do really like Eve. Just Eve. Not evie or Evangeline
Raina - no, horrible and it reminds me of the spanish for frog.

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 16:14

I didn't think of Australia, I thought only of Charles.

strictmumof3 · 03/03/2009 16:26

Out of those i love Elliot (with the 1 T) and Raina.

Wolfblass · 03/03/2009 16:38

Love Elliott and Zander

Avril - i think is lovely, very pretty and not at all common.

Evangeline will be shortened to Vangie or Vange - worked with an Evangeline although she was phillipino and crazy and lovely not sure i like the nn's.

Raina - not sure??

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 16:44

Don't like your boy's names.

Evangeline is beautiful, but Avril is horrid and Raina is a bit hippy dippy.

Fimbo · 03/03/2009 16:46

Don't like any of them - sorry!

ramonaquimby · 03/03/2009 16:51

love the name Avril and Elliot

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 16:53

ramonaquimby - great name!

steamedtreaclesponge · 03/03/2009 16:54

I like Evangeline - and it can be shortened to Eve or Eva which are also lovely names.

Elliot is OK but don't like the rest. Agree that Alexander shortened to Zander would be better.

wastingmyeducation · 03/03/2009 17:28

It's shortened to Evie in House of Elliot.
OP, have you been watching House of Elliot?

Vitale · 03/03/2009 17:38

We called our daughter Maria Evangeline (born Feb 2008). Just before she was born we noticed the actress Evangeline Lilly had the name (from Lost). It put me off at first as I thought, what if the actress gets involved in some scandal. Now we have a problem what do we call our second daughter (due in June)? We both like Sophia or Olivia as a first name but cannot agree a good middle name. It has to go with the surname Vitale and not sound like something off a pizza menu.

DownyEmerald · 03/03/2009 17:51

zander is a fish - aka pike perch

DaddyJ · 03/03/2009 17:56

Sophia Juliette Vitale?

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 18:03

Ramona, I imagined you to be MayorQuimby's wife. But you are both posting at the same time, so either you're not married after all, or you have two laptops!

peanutbutterkid · 03/03/2009 18:21

I like Elliot.
I don't like any of the others.
April instead of Avril?

SalBySea · 03/03/2009 18:23

Elliot is the only one I like
