Opinions for boys pleeease? Doing my own head in.

Honest opinions on these boys names please? I'd really like something that's not run-of-the-mill or too popular, but nothing too out there. I really like Faris but I've been met with some pretty starnage looks on that one so far. Should I care?

Not too sure about Hamish, but thats cause I'm imagining a big burly scots man but they all had to be babies at one time

Hooray Fearless Freak! I think it's Arabic actually. My DH thinks he'd get stick at school. Geez, It's a lot better than some that are out there I think.

I like Hamish. Faris just sounds made up and a bit american.

Sonny I like - but i don't know whether it's a name you'd want as an adult male?

No you shouldn't care unless you think it will cause your ds problems ... can't imagine it would in any of these cases ...

Of all of those I favour Hamish, it's a lovely name but wd assume some sort of Scottish connection

Faris - not sure - sounds a tad feminine for me but I favour v. plain 'square' names for lads!

Sonny - don't like it (sorry!) prob much more acceptable to US than UK ear though ...I think it's a name a dc "has to live up to" iyswim ...

Go for what makes you and your dh happy!

Faris = Knight or horseman in arabic

i think Sonny goes best with Rudy....doing the old "baby, teen, man" scenario i think it works well for all ages.....i actually heard a daddy calling sonny to his wee boy @ the weekend and i thought it was v nice

I have to say, if I heard of an unspecified person called Faris, my first impression would be of a female. But I'd very quickly get over that. Fas for short? or does Fabian float your boat at all?

Given your shortlist though, I would pick Hamish (if you have some Scottish connection?)

My friend has a Hamish and he's lovely. I think I prefer Sonny out of all of them.

Sonny=Sonny and Cher. (Sonny was the squeaky short guy). Not a man's name.
Faris=Ferris wheel.
I assume you're Scottish or have a Scottish link? I think Hamish is hard to carry off without.
