I love the name Autumn Rose for a little girl but am unsure as to what Autumn could be shortened to as a NN?

Any suggestions?

Tum?

I don't think you really can shorten Autumn.

CharCharGabor · 01/03/2009 21:24

Auto?

NorktasticNinja · 01/03/2009 21:26

Leaf? Rosie?

Leannabanana · 01/03/2009 21:26

does that work?

Ode (to Autumn)
Misty

MmeLindt · 01/03/2009 21:27

Does it have to be shortened? DS has a name that cannot be shortened and it does not seem to bother him.

CharCharGabor · 01/03/2009 21:29

I don't understand, why Oli?

Leannabanana · 01/03/2009 21:30

misty is cute actually.

i guess it doesn't have to be shortened, no. we have a habit of calling the children by names that do not relate to their actual names anyway...James is Bob, Ellie Mae is Boot....and don't get me started on the cats....ha.

I know an Autumn and that's all she is...

Springhassprung · 02/03/2009 12:35

Rain Rayne

If you change the middle name you could have initials as a NN, eg AD AJ etc

belgo · 02/03/2009 12:36

no Oli doesn't work.

Just call her Autumn, no need for a nickname.

Nancy66 · 02/03/2009 12:47

Bit of a daft name though - there aren't any roses in autumn, only summer.

stickylittlefingers · 02/03/2009 13:01

there are so roses in the autumn (pls see our garden!). Tho I think you're riding for a fall..

Nancy66 · 02/03/2009 13:21

groan !!

Rose = summer to most people though doesn't it?

I know i'm being pedantic but it's a bit like calling someone Midnight Rainbow

stickylittlefingers · 02/03/2009 13:23

Midnight rainbow is a fantastic name! So sorry I'm not planning on having any more dc to use it on...

Flightattendant27 · 02/03/2009 13:24

Goldie? As in 'Au' the chemical symbol for gold. Tenuous, yes...and possibly rather trite!

Flightattendant27 · 02/03/2009 13:25

Or Aume

noddyholder · 02/03/2009 13:31

tumtum

Fimbo · 02/03/2009 13:38

A

Leannabanana · 02/03/2009 13:44

i know what you are saying nancy66....i just love the name Rose as its my fav flower.

DH mother, who has passed, was called Lilian so we may use that as second name.

Autumn Lilian sounds nice. Could call her Ali for short then - A for autumn LI for lilian

I teach an Autumn and my classroom assistant keeps calling her April

EllieorOllie · 03/03/2009 14:18

One of my great friends has two girls called Indigo and Autumn. Autumn is shortened by those close to her to 'Auty' (family) or 'Aut'(school friends). I think it is a gorgeous name .

2Helenback · 05/03/2009 11:53

EllieorOllie, I think you must know my sister. Is she LA based? Can't imagine anyone else has an Autumn and an Indigo out there!

My dd calss them Autie and Ingo, but she was only18 months when they met up.
