Samuel, Harvey or Gabriel

You may see or of seen i posted yesterday that a family member has used our original choice that we settled on which was Harry.

I was exceptionally gutted, however after 24 hours I have come to realise just how popular it is and am now glad to be looking at other options. Harry is definatley struck off of the list!

Gabriel is dp's first choice for a boy and always has been (Gabe for short). In the past i vetoed it (and i really dispised it) - but admit it has grown on me. Although i know nobody else will even like it) Including step dd (14), my family, some of his family and friends. .(probably why i disliked it so much 5 years ago)

Harvey and Samuel we both love and family have all agreed they're lovely.

Sam/ Samuel is just too popular and I actually don't like it.

Harvey is very Jordan.

Gabriel is the nicest, but I think you should spend some more time thinking of names. How about Luke or Lewis or something? Maybe even Harrison.

Luke and Lewis yuk! I can never hear the name Luke without thinking 'Liverfluke'. Don't know why, just find it sounds ugly. I agree Sam is a bit too common now (as in popular, not naff) Harvey is very common (as in common common!) I love Gabriel. It was on my shortlist for DS3 who is nearly 10 - it was pretty unheard of then but I imagine it's much more popular now.

How about Lorcan, Lachlan or Malachy? They were also on my shortlist but as I haven't used them in ten years I may as well pass them on!

I was about to say all three names are gorgeous, but I see you've made a decision already.

Gabriel Henry is a lovely name, don't pay any attention to people trying to talk you out of it - if it's what you've decided on, their opinions count for nowt.

This is why we waited until the DC were born before telling people their names.

Gabriel will get called Gabrielle though, won't he? And probably wont' be too chuffed with that. It is quite feminine. Gabe isn't feminine though.

Malachy's nice.

Curlygirly · 02/03/2009 17:28

We have a Gabriel and he gets called Gabes a lot. His older brother calls him Gabriella

Nope it is sticking - if i look at the name book one more time it'll be in the flipping bin!

I knew a Stefan who was called Stephanie and even a Harry who people called Harriet, and a Henry - Henrietta when just wanting to be cruel! Kids will get picked on i suppose no matter what their name/ surname.

DP loves it, it is his first choice and as he says he is built like a brick poo house, so if people want to pick on his sons name, they'll have him to deal with .
