I heard of Annette Brown who got married to Richard Curtain, so now she's Annette Curtain...

I know a middle aged builder called Michael Hunt ....

I was at primary school with a Robin Banks - no one ever teased him about it at that stage; I didn't notice it until my mum and her friend were sniggering when they saw his name on the display of work - they thought it must be a joke.

I don't understand the comment at the bottom of the article from the man who was named Simon Swindells. Is there something particularly funny/bad about the combination of Simon and Swindells? Swindells isn't the greatest surname, but why did he have to change his first name?

I knew a Philip McKracken who insisted being called Phil. snurk

There was a thread on this last year. The one that strongly stuck in my mind was a business woman from Hong Kong called Fanny Pong

I have a great book, which a friend of my mother's found in a charity shop many moons ago, called "Remarkable Names of Real People". It contains such gems as:

• T. Hee (restaurant employee, New York)

And (one of my faves)

I went to school with a William Dick and he insisted on being called Willy. Also went to school with a Mike Hunt.

I went to uni with an Eileen Dover, she pretended her brother was called Ben but i don't think he was....

I know a Brie Cheeseman. Her parents swear they didn't make the cheese link when they named her.

omg, my dh went to school with Hazel Nutt. We've spent hours laughing about her dad, P. Nutt and making up other family names...
