Names that go with the surname Smith!

You d think it would be quite easy wouldnt you? I mean its not as if our surname is Pratt, or Sidebottom! But we are having real problems!

We already have a Noah (middle name Simon) and are going for no 2. But we cannot agree on any names and the ones we dont go with Smith

e.g. we both love Finn, but Finn Smith?

Any suggestions for boys and girls?

PS - quite like biblical names although not biblical and really dont want names that are too popular!

Oh my goodness, I can tell its late, my thread just doesnt make sense at all does it?

Right, it was supposed to read 'the names we do agree on, dont sound right with the surname Smith' and 'we quite like biblical names although we arent religious'

Thats probably confused you even more!

Smith is tricky isn't it. There are so many famous people for eg.

A pal is a Smith and discounted, for instance, Arthur (famous comic), George (they already knew a George Smith) etc.

Needs to be a bit out there imo (as opposed to another pal with very unusual surname who went for Lucy and Emma).

How about oldish girls names like Agnes, Florence, Bella?

Watch out for Amelia and Olivia - vvv popular in these parts at least.

Clary · 20/02/2009 23:26

see lockets agrees with me about Florence - it's the way to go (was goingto be DS2's name).

Yes, I agree Clary, with DS we both loved William - but Will Smith? - as much as I like him!

Im liking Freya and Thea (Im presuming Thea is pronounced Thea rather than Tia)

Actually names ending in "a" sound good with Smith - Flora Smith? Agnes Smith is a bit hard to say.

Yes Will Smith it's a total no-no isn't it.

Funny how such a regular name can be a bit of a poser.

Heated · 20/02/2009 23:33

Thea Smith is not great if you have a lisp or don't have crisp pn, although Thea is lovely.

ShambolicBaby · 20/02/2009 23:33

William Smith

ShambolicBaby · 20/02/2009 23:34

James

you cant beat James

wibblewobbly · 20/02/2009 23:36

I like James but would prefer to use as a middle name IYSWIM
