Watching the docu on Imelda Marcos the other night, and he touted Imelda as a middle name for Astrid.
Nah, as much as I liked her "They found no skeletons in my cupboard, just beautiful shoes" line.
Imelda?
Have we both gone mad?

ROFL - that is a brilliant line, and almost worthy of naming your daughter in honour of....

It's actually a reasonably pretty name. You could always say it's after Imelda Staunton instead of Marcos. Not sure it quite works with Astrid. I think Astrid Ines sounds better (and Ines means 'chaste' which is surely the sort of middle name every man wants to bestow upon his daughter)

Apart from Imelda Marcos, and Imelda Staunton, I only ever heard of one other - she was a woman on the American Airforce base near where I worked and she was called Imelda Nash-Wanklin.
'nuff said.

Nash-Wanklin!

Well there is a surname worse than my own. Excellent.

minouminou · 18/02/2009 16:32

Ow - Nash-Wanklin. That hurts.

oh yes! Id forgotten about her! I am old enough too - I remember the first series with Tucker and Benny and Trish...

I was Imelda Nash-Wanklin before I remarried. I am not, and never have been, a US citizen but cannot believe there is another of the same name!!???

greeneyes007 · 23/04/2009 14:04

Imelda Nash-Wanklin here again (that was!) - Have never worked on an American Airbase either???!!!

And yes, it was embarrassing - especially calling the bank, etc. when you could hear them all falling about laughing in the background "It's her again..."

There was a reason for this ridiculous name - believe it or not it was created by one of my ex-husband's relatives. Can anyone out there guess why he would do such a thing????
