What girls name did you pick? (it might help us know what your tastes are...)

So much,
I was in a shop about a year ago when a lady came in with her new baby. When asked what he was called she announced "Horace". She left shortly after that and the whole shop burst out laughing - customers and staff - everyone offering sympathy for the little boy. And these were a group of people who had never previously spoken before. I think it's a bit of a hard one to carry I'm afraid.

BlueChampagne · 11/02/2009 13:16

I'm confused - you don't mind if something is quite popular but you want something unique?

Oh well, here are my faves:

Aidan
Justin
Laurence
Morgan
Harvey
Francis
Lewis
Alexander
Marcus

Quimi and [giggle]. I would handle that one with care: 'quim' is the old english word for vagina, and is in common enough (jokey) usage for that form of Joachim to be most unfortunate - kids might not know this, but enough adults would to make it a bit awkward, I would imagine (sorry if that's your DS's name - I'm sure someone will shoot me down now).

FWIW I think Nate is lovely, too, and Kit, Theo, Luca, as suggested above. Also met a baby Tate the other day, which I thought was nice.

We're thinking of Reuben, which isn't too common...

mum2b09 · 11/02/2009 13:59

i like luca for a little boy and i also liked shae but my bf wasnt too keen back to the drawing board xx

worriedamy · 11/02/2009 17:02

We are gonna call our little boy Caelan Jack, mixing up something original with something traditional, so its not too 'out there'!!

We liked Ky, Tyler, Micah, Jayden too!

kitsmummy · 11/02/2009 20:12

Oh and I love Rufus too

Mintyy · 11/02/2009 20:15

There are so many Noahs now!

Almost as many Noahs as Olivers.

I would say:

Stan
Frank
Sam
Jonathan
Michael

TheSonnetts · 11/02/2009 20:52

Of the above:

I really like Gabriel and Laurence:
Both these were on the thread further down of the names people secretly love but didn't use as it seemed in all cases with these names their dh/dp vetoed it.

I've always liked Jonathan,Adam and Alexander.Leo is lovely also.Only know one.I predict Frank to be the next comeback name and wish I had used it for ds.
