Not too poplular but not too wacky - which of these names meets this criteria!?

Hi, I seem to be going round in circles when it comes to possible names for DC3 (due in late March). Dh is not being much help! We already have an Isaac and a Felix (that's probably blown my cover if there's anyone on here who knows me!). We generally like slightly unusual but not too wacky names. Here is our my shortlist so far - any thoughts would be appreciated...

GIRLS:
Sylvie
Imogen
Anya
Miranda
Corinne

BOYS:
Reuben
Leo
(struggling more with boys names as you can see!)

Thanks

Love Isaac and Felix - what lovely names

Also love Imogen - Dh vetoed our for our DD though

Reuben would have been our choice for DD had she been a boy, obviously!
Oscar is also lovely and kind of in the same vein.

OrmIrian · 02/02/2009 17:07

Miranda, Corinne and Leo.

Dn't like Sylvie or Imogen and I know lots of Reubens and a few Anyas.

belgo · 02/02/2009 17:09

prefer Leon to Leo.

MrsSeanBean · 02/02/2009 17:09

Miranda and Leo are my favourites.

Also I like Christian, Archie, Rory, Guy, Louis for boys. HTH.

Lizzylou · 02/02/2009 17:11

Love Imogen, Sylvie and Anya
Love both of your boy choices, on the boy front I also love Rufus and Joel

atowncalledalice · 02/02/2009 17:12

Isaac and Felix are fantastic names. I don't like Corinne from your list, but all the others are lovely. For a boy:

Jasper
Cassius
Solomon
Rufus

Cordelia?

janeite · 02/02/2009 17:13

I love, love Miranda - it was a contender for dd1 but didn't sound right with dp's surname.

belgo · 02/02/2009 17:14

what about Sebastian.

I like Sylvie, Imogen and Anya.

CaptainKarvol · 02/02/2009 17:15

I know a Roman, slightly in the Reuben line? Love Corrine too.

pinkpip100 · 02/02/2009 17:18

Interestingly Belgo, DH prefers Leon to Leo too.
Lizzylou, Joel is Isaac's middle name, so definitely along the right lines!

Some great additional suggestions here too - thanks everyone - though am now even more confused over which ones I like best...

Doh, just managed to burn the baked beans. should really concentrate on one thing at a time.

I think all your names fit that criteria, actually. Though I think Syvie may be coming back into popularity- it's often mentioned on here recently, anyway. Reuben is the only one I really love out of your list, though none are objectionable or horrid in any way.

misdee · 02/02/2009 17:20

Imogen is v popular round here. there is one in dd's years at school so i know 3

whereas dd1 is the only one in her school with her name. same for dd3.

janeite · 02/02/2009 17:21

I love Rowan for a boy (dd2 would have been this).

Also: Luke/Lucas; Benedict; Gabriel.

misdee · 02/02/2009 17:21

i wanted Malachi forn a boy. (have i spelt it right?)

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/02/2009 17:22

Imogen and Reuben both very popular.

How about Felicity for a girl?

Lawrence for a boy?

pinkpip100 · 02/02/2009 17:25

Sebastian did pop into my mind the other day actually but haven't yet broached it with DH so no idea what his reaction might be. We already have nephews called Oscar and Louis.

Are any of the names I've mentioned really popular at the mo? I seem to have an irrational fear of picking a name that ends up in the top ten the following year. I know it doesn't matter at all, and I should just choose the ones I like best but I can't shake that nagging worry.

Sorry, too slow typing my reply and now look like I've ignored the comments about which names are popular!
Off to serve up dinner now but will be back later so thanks again for the input.

Hector for a boy?

Meredith for a girl?

loobylu3 · 02/02/2009 17:33

GIRLS:
Sylvie-love this and not too popular
Imogen- quite popular though pretty
Anya- not one of my favourites (not too popular)
Miranda- beautiful and not too popular
Corinne-not one of my favourites (not too popular though)

Like Sylvie best, then Miranda for a girl

BOYS:
Reuben- like this but not unusual
Leo- not too keen on this but I think it is less popular.

janeite · 02/02/2009 17:34

Meredith is lovely. I absolutely adore Marianne too.

loobylu3 · 02/02/2009 17:34

Oh love Rufus, Cassius, Hugo and Caspar for a boy. I think these are less popular too.

Neeerly3 · 02/02/2009 17:37
