Isn't it a motorcyle accessories comapny?

I don't like it at all - what is wrong with real names these days?

MrsMattie · 26/01/2009 14:37

How do you pronounce it?

Ak-ill-ah? Ah-kee-ah? Ak-will-ah?

seeker · 26/01/2009 14:38

No. Just no.

If you like I'll post my why you shouldn't choose bonkers names post again!

audley · 26/01/2009 14:38

Ah-kwill-ah
It is a real name!!

It's a bit...odd.

GooseyLoosey · 26/01/2009 14:44

If you really like it, how about using it as a middle name. Not for a first name

audley · 26/01/2009 14:45

givethedogahomebirth, oh dear, this is my main concern too (sounding like a girls name), I hoped it may not get picked up so soon...

Aprilla/Aquilla - they are all crap!

Maybe you could get Aquilla and Minerva together when they are older!

audley · 26/01/2009 14:50

Quite so MadameCasta - i think Minerva is great too! But I like the biblical association with Aquilla that Minerva doesn't have.

minouminou · 26/01/2009 15:00

I quite like it, but more as a middle name.

seeker · 26/01/2009 15:00

All names that end in A sound girly.

follderol · 26/01/2009 15:02

it's horrible

follderol · 26/01/2009 15:02

according to www.babynamescountry.com/meanings/Aquila.html its a girls name with 2 Ls and its latin for eagle

Bucharest · 26/01/2009 15:03

It's a town in central Italy as well.
Please don't use it. Sounds awful.

audley · 26/01/2009 15:05

Oh thanks for that follderol. I didn't know. Aquila then.

minouminou · 26/01/2009 15:11

I prefer the a-kee-la pronunciation, rather than the a-kwee-la version

seeker · 26/01/2009 15:28

Why?

LuLuBai · 26/01/2009 16:35
  1. eagle
  2. brand of beer

Nice enough sounding word but don't think it works as a baby name.

If you like the eagle thing and are looking for something not used very much how about Peregrine or Merlin. OK they are falcons but similar sort of thing.

Or if you want an easy way to choose your Chrismas cards for everymore call him Robin.

CuppaTeaJanice · 26/01/2009 16:42

Aqua is ok, in an earth mother kind of way, but definitely for a girl.

MissusLindt · 26/01/2009 16:45

Aqua is water in Italian.

Would you call your DS Water? Even as a nickname?

Reminds me a bit of Akela, the boss cub scout leader.

Not keen, sorry.

atowncalledalice · 26/01/2009 16:49

It's Aquila with one L.
