I seem to have a bit of time to kill this evening for a change! Just enjoyed reading the other similar thread and found it quite funny. What are your opinions on these names. They all seem to have come up on recent threads but I don't necessarily like all of them!

Scarlett
Elodie
Flora
Sylvie
Electra
Lydia

I find it easier to imagine their parents, so here goes

Scarlett- nouveau riche fashiony type
Elodie - quite hippyish, warns people of the dawn of aquarius
Flora - competitive mum, most of her children are allergic to something
Sylvie - Conservative 80% of the time, not different for the sake of it, has good taste, spots a trend but doesn't run with it or flog it.
Electra - chav. picked it cos it sounded nice, or, try-hard. bit like portia, can go either way.
Lydia- a mumsnetter type of name.

Scarlett - fiery
Elodie - Melody without the M
Flora - margarine
Sylvie - Sylvia, which makes me think of DP's ex wife, so especially hate this name!
Electra - trying too hard.
Lydia - sensible girl

LadyPinkOfPinkerton · 20/01/2009 19:25

Elodie - sweet
Flora - marg
Slyvie - old fashioned
Electra - What?

pointydog · 20/01/2009 19:29

Scarlett - used to be trendy, now a bit tired

Elodie - french

Flora - Macdonald, old-fashioned and rather starched

Sylvie - french

Electra - oedipus, freaky

Lydia - rather stiff

Not sure what the names make me think of but I do really like the name Scarlett and quite like Elodie, Sylvie and Lydia.
Flora just makes me think of the Margerine.
Don't like the name Electra.

Flora - margerine

Sylvie - blue rinsed old lady

Electra - pole dancer

Scarlett- bright bolshy art student. I like a lot. As a child, all smock coats and berets.

Elodie- no, never heard f it until the last week, just yells MN to me

Flora- butterly

Sylvie- a lovely but exceddingly daft girl at school; almost Syvia's mother asid song

Electra- No. COmlpex, scary princess warrior, no.

Lydia. Mennopausal lady with a prety doily collection.

basementbear · 20/01/2009 21:31

Scarlett - too popular, there will be at least one other in her class
Elodie - quite like it but everyone will go "what, Melody?" "NO, Elodie!" etc etc
Flora - margarine
Sylvie - Ok if you are French
Electra - Porn star
Lydia - will be forever nicknamed Lydia Teapot

sleepyhead3 · 21/01/2009 18:13

Scarlett-o'Hara, feisty, dark haired girl (slightly influenced by the film, I think)

Elodie- pretty French girl

Flora- love this but spoilt by the marg!

Sylvie-sounds like the name of a dark, willowy, v imaginative girl, a bit of a free spirit

Electra- complex!

Lydia- Jane Austen, like it but I would imagine the owner of this name would be quite reserved.
