SIL due to pop any day now and she can't decide!

OP posts:

Both v nice but like Eliza better.

mogwai · 11/01/2009 19:39

love both (sigh my DH loves neither)

Would choose Eliza over Sasha. My friend shortens her daughter's Eliza to Lila, very pretty

EsmeWatson · 16/01/2009 11:18

Love love love Eliza!
Agree totally with DeborahBorr - Sasha is in the same category as Tracy/Samantha/Crystal! Don't like it at all. Eliza is classy and sweet, without being too popular yet as all the old lady names are now becoming.

purlease · 16/01/2009 11:24

I'd go for Eliza as Sasha seems to be becoming over popular - I know quite a few aged under 4.

MrsSeanBean · 16/01/2009 11:24

Eliza definitely!

lastboxoftampons · 16/01/2009 11:54

I love them both. I think Eliza is a stand-alone name, but I would probably go with Alexandra and call her Sasha if I chose that one.

Hersetta · 16/01/2009 12:24

Love Eliza. Sasha sounds like it should belong to a labrador.

ilovelovemydog · 16/01/2009 12:26

Barack Obama's girl's name is Sasha, so may get more popular?

Then again, not sure there was a surge of 'Chelseas' when Bill Clinton was in office

poppydaisy · 16/01/2009 12:44

Barack Obama's daughter is Natasha (nicknamed Sasha).

MrsMattie · 16/01/2009 12:45

Love Eliza. A beautiful name. really don't like Sasha at all - it has a harsh sound to my ears.

Squirdle · 16/01/2009 13:17

I love the name Sasha, don't like Eliza. I think Eliza is a sharp sounding name!

Sputnik · 16/01/2009 13:22

Eliza

MyDDisaSasha · 16/01/2009 13:27

DD is actually Sasha Elizabeth. I wanted Eliza but we went for the long version so she could shorten it later if she wanted. I call her Sasha Eliza quite often! As far as I'm concerned it has NO Tracey/Samantha/Crystal connotations - WTF?!

cuddlemum · 16/01/2009 15:16

Love Eliza. Dislike Sasha I'm afraid.

chisigirl · 16/01/2009 15:34

I LOVE the name Sasha.
Eliza sounds really harsh, imho.

belgo · 16/01/2009 15:35

Love Eliza. Sasha is ok.

MyDDisaSasha · 16/01/2009 18:38

I think Liza is harsh - the E softens it, I reckon.

Karamazov · 16/01/2009 21:42

Agree with most of the other posters - Eliza is lovely, Sasha is a bit naff imho. Go with Eliza.

jeanjeannie · 16/01/2009 21:56

Like Eliza - lovely.

My DP's name is Sasha - short for Alexsandar - so I associate it with boys!

nappyaddict · 17/01/2009 18:56

Eliza definitely. It is classic and timeless.

Sasha is very now.
