Dp suspects it might be. Sorry about the terminology but common sounds snobbish.
Thanks

Dunno about chavvy but it is awful. You'd need siblings called Saffron, Bracken and River to really give out the hippy vibes though

PuppyMonkey · 09/01/2009 11:16

Not a name you hear often where I live, Nottingham, probably because there is a v.big estate called The Meadows here and you would not want to be named after it...

seeker · 09/01/2009 11:17

It's not chav - it's just silly!

Lemontart · 09/01/2009 11:25

sorry Simplysally - typo there!

Bubbaluv · 09/01/2009 11:36

Chav or hippy-aristo.
Makes me think of buttercups and cow-pats.

MadameCastafiore · 09/01/2009 11:38

Would make me think of vast, green fields with daisies growing in them and huge big smelly cow pats dotted about!

PuppyMonkey · 09/01/2009 12:04

Makes me think of gun crime... see earlier post..

silverfairy · 09/01/2009 14:46

I think it's still boho rather than chavvy.

LiffeyOink · 09/01/2009 15:07

NO. UNLESS, Meadow is a character from HOllyOaks or Neighbours or HOmeand away or the OC or ... I wouldn't know.

Eg, Miley, would have just thought, how weird, but now that I know WHY there are a fair few cropping up in 2008/9, the impression changes from 'quirky rare choice' to 'another miley cyrus fan'.

Hersetta · 09/01/2009 15:18

My DH wanted our DD's middle name to be Meadow as she was conceived at the Sheraton Meadowlands hotel in New Jersey. I flatly refused as I do think it's chavvy and her middle name is now Sophie.

LiffeyOink · 09/01/2009 15:20

Well, if you'd ever said that out loud, then it would have been too late to name her Meadow!! If say, it were after the Meadow by the stream where you used to play as a child....... that would be less problematic. Je crois.

Sycamoretree · 09/01/2009 15:24

Je n'aime pas. Sorry.

largeginandtonic · 09/01/2009 15:29

Yes.

BabyBaby123 · 09/01/2009 16:39

terrible name - what is it with people today? Are you trying to outdo each other in the worst possible name competition??
It's chav but it's worse than that = it sounds like something you'd call a donkey tbh

Hulababy · 09/01/2009 16:53

No idea of "chav" or not.

It isn't a name I particularly like.

Moondancer · 09/01/2009 17:06

It isnt really a proper name is it?

MarchNowFebMum · 09/01/2009 17:24

agree with moondog - tired alternative is perfect term but i don't hear chav

HelenBurns · 09/01/2009 20:18

It's no way as chav as Pledge.

oliviasmama · 09/01/2009 21:15

yes, not good

lunamoon2 · 10/01/2009 23:21

A few years ago would have been considered "hippy parents" the "free love" types.
Now unfortunately seams very Chavvy along with Summer and Sonny.

delightedoldbag34 · 11/01/2009 16:49

Well, imagine (or actually go and do this) -
shouting the name out loudly in the supermarket
shouting the name out loudly in the park

and see how it makes you feel and what kind of looks you get from people around you.
I suspect there may be some people listening who will think you have maybe lost a dog?

and then imagine saying to lots and lots of people (as you will do over the next few years of your child's life) -
'Yes, actually her name is Meadow' over and over again.

But if it still feels right after all of that then that's your decision made. Isn't it?

Scarfmaker · 11/01/2009 20:13

\How about Fern if you're looking for nature names?

eclectech · 11/01/2009 20:34

Not common here. I rather like it, but then I probably come into the slghtly hippy category.

goingunderground · 11/01/2009 20:35

'chav' isn't nice

missymoo2411 · 11/01/2009 20:57
