After going round and round the same list of:
Heidi, Phoebe, Poppy & Emily over and over again I've suddenly thought of...
Coralie - could shorten to Cora or Corrie ( - actually maybe not!) But at least it's a new contender to the list. What do you think?

Girl over the road was called this when we were growing up - going by what she was like and how she turned out it would be a no no for me!

LaDiDaDi · 03/01/2009 17:02

I think it's lovely, very pretty.

Pinkchampagne · 03/01/2009 17:03

I know a lovely girl called Coralie. I think it's a really pretty name.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 17:04

its nice but I prefer Corrina or Corinne

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 03/01/2009 17:05

I like Heidi and Emily better from your list.

Tigerschick · 03/01/2009 17:07

Not heard of Coralie before but I like it.
I went to school with a girl called Coral which I always liked.
I also like Corinne - but only when pronounced Cor-in, not Cu-reen like someone I used to know was.

mrsjuan · 03/01/2009 17:14

Yes I like Corinne (Cor-in) as well but it doesn't go too well with our surname which is Owen.
I'm very open to other suggestions if you've got any you think I'd like.

it's ok. not hideous but I wouldn't go for it.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 17:15

what about
Beatrice
Cecelia
Celeste
Penelope nn penny
Amelie

LaDiDaDi · 03/01/2009 17:16

Coralie Owen sounds lovely.

Tigerschick · 03/01/2009 17:16

I see your point on Corinne ... that might be pushing it a bit
I had the same problem with Francesca which was my favourite name for years ... then I got married and our surname also begins Fr ...

mrsjuan · 03/01/2009 17:18

Beatrice: love the name but no 'b's please - can't saddle the poor child with the initials B.O!
Celelia & Celeste - too fussy for me
Penelope - like it!
Amelie - love it!

Violet
Charlotte nn Lottie?
Harriet

mrsjuan · 03/01/2009 17:25

I've never liked Violet for some reason (don't mean to offend anyone)
I like Lottie but not Charlotte.
Like Harriet (nn Hattie)
Keep 'em coming!

Podrick · 03/01/2009 17:30

I like Vivienne and Marianne

MrsMattie · 03/01/2009 17:32

I like Coralie, but it;s quite girly / cutesy.

I prefer Cora - I think that's such a lovely, under used name. I know a Cora (an adult) and she is stunningly beautiful, too, so it may have coloured my view of the name

mrsjuan · 03/01/2009 18:08

Sorry Podrick - Vivienne and Marianne are not really to my taste at all. I think she'd have to be quite tall and elegant to carry them off and I can't see that happening if she takes after me or hubby!
I do like Cora on it's own but not sure it flows very well with Owen.

OP posts:
LiffeyAnnaLivia · 03/01/2009 18:21

Heidi and Phoebe are lovely.

Vivien and Marianne are both absolutely beautiful imo. Beautiful and strong, not just 'pretty'. Not that there's anything wrong with a name that is just pretty, but I make a slight distinction between pretty names and beautiful names. Vivien was on my list. xh just said 'young ones' though unfortunately.

Not keen on Coralie or Cora, but they're OK. Prefer Clara.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:15

if you like Cora what about Cara?

Seren
Charis/Carys
Gina
Nina
Nancy

what about

Lana
Lara
Layla
Lila

etc - loads of possibilities there

eandh · 03/01/2009 21:16

everyone stop mentioning Hattie on threads its dd2 name and I like the fact we do not know anyone in rl called Hattie

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:17

oh sorry, my bad
lovely choice btw
