Albert or Ivan?

This is our absolute shortlist for DC due in mid-Feb so please be sensitive! We would probably shorten Albert to Bertie (or Al as he gets older) for daily use. Ivan has been on our list for a long time - you may have seen a thread I had for this name several months ago now. We would possibly shorten to Van.

I'd love some feedback...Girl's names still not narrowed down enough yet but watch this space.

hm, Ivan is nicer than Albert

I prefer Ivan and like the idea of shortening to Ivo when he's little

i think id have to say Ivan but maybe not Van but I like Albert/bertie/Albie too. but if I had to choose from the 2 i'd say Ivan I think!
Congratulations. I'm due mid Feb too (14th) with DS and really struggling with names!

Ivan

I taught an Ivan pronounced ee-varn which seemed nicer than the more usual way and no-one associated it with 'Terrible'.

FairLadyRantALot · 03/01/2009 23:31

ee-varn is how us germans would say it, and also ow possibly eastern europeans would say it, etc...but, has the same "meaning"

Love Albert and Bertie, not as keen on Ivan, I prefer Ivor (even if it is an engine).
