boys names - classic and wont date

hello

expecting DC in February and really stuck for boys names (girls names seem easier for some reason)

I want something quite classic but which is not that popular so wont date.

I did like Felix at one stage but there are loads around and is very 'of the moment' so may date a bit.

I know that the classic boys names are very 'now' but dont want one that is 'fashionable'. I'm probably expecting too much!

Any ideas of other boys names that may fit the bill?

My two are:

Jasper David

and

Edward Alexander.

I think you should work on your husband re Edward!
There are so many nicknames that he might like.

Ed, Eddie, Ted, Teddy, Ned, Woody etc etc.

munteria · 22/12/2008 14:34

Its because a couple of friends of his have Edward's (I dont mind as dont see them that much!).

I like Ted / Teddy but apparently there are some Teddi's out there now..which not keen on

In my opinion, classic boys names that are not too common include

Edward
Monty
Quentin
James
William

Agree that girls's names are easier...

lea1980 · 22/12/2008 21:16

my ds is called seth
obviously we get the emmerdale jokes, but by the time hes at school (hes only 15 mths) not many people will remember ( i hope)
we picked that because alot of dhs friends have classic names..andrew, james, matthew etc and we wanted something different but not wacky!!

George
Edward
Thomas
Quentin
James
Peter
Charles

I don't mind Felix but don't feel it has the same 'classic, timeless' appeal as other names.
