Ripley.

Yes, Ripley.

Now that's just ridiculous is it not?

NoBiggyTurkeyHereThanks · 20/12/2008 15:58

Sure it wasn't rippley?

Does she have raspberry stripes?

aam · 20/12/2008 15:59

So what? You sound jealous.

LiffeySaysNollaigShona · 20/12/2008 18:03

Somebody famous did this. Was it Helena Bonham Carter, Victoria Smurfit?

It isn't pretty, but I've heard worse. THat northern lass from cold feet, what was her name, either character or real life.......? She called her dd 'Parker'.

LiffeySaysNollaigShona · 20/12/2008 18:04

Wow. Yes Fay Ripley. I thought I didn't remember her name but I thought of her anyway

Er, ahem, maybe OP & I have a mutual acquaintence, I know a girl called Ripley who is about 10yo.
I think it's a 'cool' name, tbh, though I personally don't think I would name a DC after a movie character, it's much better than plenty of other names I've heard....

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 21/12/2008 11:02

I've heard worse, Ripley may be a bit dumb in origin but at least it sounds ok. There are loads of middle-class American girls with masculine-sounding surnames as first names, it's no worse than Reese.

TsarHumbug · 21/12/2008 11:22

I sometimes think that people should refrain from naming babies until they are 3-6 months old.

Just to let the euphoria and madness of the whole arrival simmer down and until they are thinking normally again.

I stay pretty much off the baby name theads, but often think that to myself.

PuppyDrunky · 21/12/2008 11:31

There is a town in Derbyshire called Ripley and you wouldn't want to be named after it.
