I'm only 9wks pg so no idea what we're having. Any opinions on Morgan?

We've picked a boys name but absolutely no idea for girls.

Any other girls suggestions? Ds is Lewis.

chavvy imho

Lulubee · 15/12/2008 22:07

What about Imogen? Similar but slightly more feminine?

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 15/12/2008 22:10

Morgan is quite a popular girl's name in California. I know two Morgans who are both aged around 13. They are both extremely intelligent.

RachieB · 15/12/2008 23:10

why would you say it's chavvy?

even for a welsh person / child ?!

Gorionine · 15/12/2008 23:16

I always thought It was Morgane for a girl?

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 15/12/2008 23:24

I know 4 Morgans - all girls.

Its ok I guess ...

Doodle2U · 16/12/2008 08:52

Morgan the girl in my DS's class and Morgan the boy in the year above. Nobody gets confused and nobody gets teased - kids just accept that it is their names.

I like it.

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 16/12/2008 08:57

I knew a girl called Morgan - I quite like it. Also Morgane.

Or, I knew someone who was Scottish and called their daughter Morven which is very pretty.

belgo · 16/12/2008 08:58

I've been watching Merlin on TV and I like Morgana.

Fillyjonk · 16/12/2008 09:04

I am in Wales and I don't think its an especially common welsh name for a girl...I only know one or two female Morgans, all under 5, and quite a lot of male Morgans.

(disclaimer: am really a Londoner though living in Cardiff so what do I know )

kittybrown · 16/12/2008 09:58

I've got a dd named Morgan. Her name really suits her. I don't think the gender confusion will really be a bother. Not like it was for my friend Tracey (now a 45 year old man).

I've been watching this thread for the chavvy comment and I'm glad I wasn't disappointed.

I've actually talked to some chavs and do you know what they were really quite friendly.

Lulubee - I like Imogen dh doesn't

Not keen. Also had a really annoying mum at DS's old nursery who's daughter was called Morgan pronounced
Mor-gan (to rhyme with 'man). She constantly got her knickers in a twist when people called her Morgan. "It's Mor-gan" (oh, FFS, woman, chill!)

clairebear88 · 16/12/2008 13:55

Very spooky

My nephew is Lewis and my niece is Morgan
( brother and sister )
I did think it was more of a boys name when my DSIL mentioned the name but my niece suits her name perfectly

Go for it

festivedollyx · 16/12/2008 21:35

my dd is Morgan she is 9 and never met another morgan yet!

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 18/12/2008 00:15

If you visit California festivedollyx you will meet quite a few. I haven't come across any in Alabama yet though.

choosyfloosy · 18/12/2008 01:06

Quite nice - memorable but also classic - though I must say I like Morven a lot, that's a cracker.

Hersetta · 18/12/2008 12:29

My half sister (16) is Morgan.

Can't say I'm keen on it for a girl though. She gets called Morg all the time which is dreadful.

Phoenix · 01/01/2009 21:42

I've just had a re-read through this thread, i'd forgot about it (i blame the pregnancy brain)

clairebear88 - How weird your niece and nephew are Morgan and Lewis

Tyke1 · 02/01/2009 11:02

I prefer morgan for a girl just because it is rare in my area.

piscesmoon · 02/01/2009 11:18

I just don't like surnames as first names, especially for girls.

clairebear88 · 02/01/2009 20:12

i know it really freaked me out
i think Morgan and Lewis sound nice together though, have you any other thoughts on names?? Megan??

Phoenix · 02/01/2009 22:37

We like Megan and had it on our list if ds had been a girl until i heard someone calling his daughter Meg. I don't like the shortening it sounds like a cats name

BabyTalk13 · 03/01/2009 00:13

This was what I had always wanted to call my child, either boy/girl but when it came to it my partner picked something else!
I really like it

Phoenix · 03/01/2009 13:27

Thanks for all the comments, good and bad.

We're thinking Morgan Grace
