Middle name for Cecily

Hi everyone,

Only 12 wks to go until DC3 is due and, although we haven't agreed on a name yet, Cecily is my current favourite.

Am thinking about middle names. Could I have some opinions on the following and any other suggestions too? Baby's surname begins with B and is 3 syllables.

Cecily Beatrix
Cecily Flora
Cecily Alice (Alice is my sister's name)
Cecily Iris
Cecily Kate
Cecily Eve

Findtheriver's suggestion of Cecily Ruth is very pretty. My personal favourite is stll Cecily Joy.

Have just done a little poll and Cecily Rose has come out on top, followed by Cecily Jane and Cecily Alice.
People obviously think 1 syllable works best rather than anything more complicated. I think I just like so many girls names that I am trying to use them especially as this will probably be our last child!

Moon is still the best by absolutely miles.

Definitely Alice, simply because it is your sister's name, and that is a lovely family connection and will make your sister so happy. It will also be something you can tell her when she is older, that she has her aunt's name as her middle name.
People just never use all three names together in real life, so I think balancing syllables etc is a bit irrelevant.

Arrghh don't have Anne/Ann, she will then become a CAB, I really like Cecily Kate, Jane, Grace and amazingly I like Moon

Where does Cecily Moon come from? It is really growing on me?!

I didn't know either but just googled it. The only think that comes up is an American or Canadian artist called Cecily Moon. It is a beautiful name and great for an artist but I think Moon is her surname.
If spidermama knows of any other Cecily Moons perhaps she can let us know!!

I agree with pp, Cecily Frances is absolutely lovely. Of course, that's what my daughter is called, so I would like it. So, actually, don't use that, it's mine....

I don't know any Cecily Moons. I know a girl who has Moon for a middle name and a fairly ordinary, pretty first name and I've always loved it.

I just think the two sound really lovely together. Musical.

Thanks Spidermama. Cecily Moon is a really pretty combination actually. It's growing on me! It's the kind of middle name the child will either really love or really hate when they are older!!

Middle names are great that way though. They hardly ever come into play unless you want them too so I think you can afford to be a bit creative about them as they're so safely tucked away on the birth certificate.

How many of your friend's middle names do you know?

My friend's dd gets called 'Moon' as a family nickname which is lovely.

I think you need a second name that starts with a consonant, since Cecily ends with a vowel sound - you don't want two vowels next to one another.

I also think you need a short name, probably one syllable, to balance the three short syllables in Cecily.

And you want a name with no s-sounds and no l-sounds.

Cecily isn't a particularly feminine name either, so you might want a name that is quite girly.

I think Cecily is a beautifully feminine sounding name, Anna!

That's really funny Anna because I think it's really feminine and pretty too! Cecily makes me think of Cecily Cardew in The Importance of Being Ernest- so a bit of a romantic image I'm afraid! It just shows how subjective this naming thing is.
Anyway, DH hasn't actually agreed to Cecily (or anything else) yet! Livia is still a possibility and I remember that you liked this when I posted before!
