cornish names....did anybody use Sennen?

Was googling to try and find the meaning of Sennen and got a link to a really old thread on this site about cornish names. It got me interested in seeing if any of you used the names Kerensa, Loveday or Sennen? Am just about to have my 2nd, don't know if its a boy or a girl and we haven't really got very far with names! I do love Sennen (for a girl) and was wondering if anyone had used it or knew of any Sennens and what you think of it? In our family there is a Kerenza and a Loveday. We love our names and especially when out of Cornwall get lots of positive comments and questions from people who've never heard of the name but think it's lovely...

I haven't used the name Sennen, but I think it's pretty and it brings to mind the beautiful beach at Sennen Cove.

I think it's nice to have a tradtional name from your culture or region, so go for it!

I also started a cornish name thread a couple of months ago. In the end we decided on Tegen (pronounced:Teg-un) for our DD. The more we said it out loud the more it grew on us.She was very nearly Tamara or Kerensa - right up to the day she was born. But Tegen just seemed to suit her on the day.We have had positive comments as well even though most people have never heard of it.
I also love the name Sennen and obviously agree it's nice to preserve the names from Cornwall.

Not Cornish, but love Sennen as a name and a cove! My own middle name is a place name from my dad's heritage.

I have a friend who is tempted by Loveday. Also, going further west (Scilly), know of a couple of ladies called Tean.

I like all your names fraggle. Not Cornish but wouldn't have minded any of them.

kerensa is.means love.
how about lowenna-means joy.
also i know a demelza-very kernow!

Sennen is lovely

I've never heard of Sennen. I knew a Kerensa once - in London so full of strange names so no one commented. I know a baby Loveday - is it about to become more popular I wonder. I;d never heard it before her. For ages I ated it but has totally grown on me now.

Thanks for all the responses! It looks like Sennen is not to be as partner now thinks it's ugly. Think he has more pregnancy induced changes of mind than me! It's a shame as it's one of our favourite places and also would be a link to home as people have mentioned, but never mind! I've never heard of Tean (is it Tee-an?) but I like that one too. And really like Jory for a boy.

Sennen isn't ugly! It's very similar to BabyDragon's name (assuming I'm pronouncing it right ) which is Welsh and everyone says it's lovely (and it's very popular in Wales apparently)

Tean is, indeed, Tee-an. It's one of the Isles of Scilly.

I know lots of people with these names. I live about 6 miles from Sennen though, you know its a place? With good beach!

I have a nephew called Jago and our DS is Lowen (means 'happy' in Cornish - and fortunately he is!). We're really struggling on a name for no. 2 - due in 2 weeks. Would love to continue the Cornish theme, so any more thoughts really appreciated.

It sounds pretty, but written down looks WAY too much like Semen. (In fact, that's what I thought it said when I first saw the thread title).

I know a Sennen (she's a girl). Named after Sennen Cove. Pretty.

Senan is growing in popularity for baby boys in Ireland. I had two friends who were considering it. One, couldn't because HER friend used it.

I'd never heard of the name until ten minutes ago. Now, like Lorcan it is definitely grwoing in popularity.
I've just read the semen comment. I had not thought of that.

Angus is Anus with the G though. All names are something dodgy with a bit of tweaking.
