Um, that's it really. Is it a nickname or a shortened version of something? I've heard of Biddie as short for Bridget but not Buddie... am I being a div?

Well, the 'Bud/Buddie' who was the murderer in 'A Kiss Before Dying' was actually named Burton...

Cynthia32 · 16/11/2008 16:03

Bud/buddy - i think it isn't short for anything, I think it's probably it's own name, iyswim. It is an american name, isn't it?

I did a quick google and it said old english name that means messenger.

Anifrangapani · 16/11/2008 16:07

Pesto my thought exactly

hecate · 16/11/2008 16:09

ilovemyflipflops · 17/11/2008 08:20

LynetteScavo · 17/12/2008 16:29

Budford.

delightedoldbag34 · 19/12/2008 21:04

Buddlea
(actually I don't think that's how its spelt but I meant the plant) - is there an 'h' in it somewhere?

LynetteScavo · 19/12/2008 21:10

I don't think it's short for anything, actually, except maybe Bud. Which would make it long, not short IYSWIM.

singersgirl · 19/12/2008 21:10

Budleigh Salterton.

Doesn't it just mean 'friend' or 'mate'? It's easy to see how it would end up being used as a nickname.

Just don't. Please. Just don't.

In the US I believe Buddy is often the youngest child in the family. Think it may be a chummy alternative to referring to renamed child as "Junior".

I think!
