I like Annie, lara and Lydia.

I think of Verity as being a bit frumpy, Fay and Kay as being a bit 1970s council estate.

jeanjeannie · 11/11/2008 13:45

I've got a 5mth old Verity....so I'm obviously biased Mind you - many people have told us they thought it was "posh" We're definately not!

Also like Lara, Anna and Kate.

cece · 11/11/2008 13:49

oh some replies!

I have only met one Verity and she was slightly eccentric lady about my age!

I like Verity best off that list but am always nervous of virtues based bames (same with Merrie) ... such a lot to live up/down to (although my daughter's name translates as goddess, so I don't have a leg to stand on, really )

moopymoo · 11/11/2008 13:51

dont like merrie or lydia - completely irrationaly. all the rest nice.

BabyBaby123 · 11/11/2008 14:01

not Fay - definately not Kay...

and not Merrie

rest are all ok

moyasmum · 11/11/2008 14:01

I like them all, merrie (knew a guy whose dd was merry,) is nice except its short for meridith(lovely name-aweful midwife)

FiveDollarShake · 11/11/2008 14:04

Anna, Annie and Annabelle are the nicest.

Neeerly3 · 11/11/2008 14:08

I like Merrie, but prefer Meredith (its on my girls shortlist too - DH hates it though!)

lljkk · 11/11/2008 14:15

Why Merrie? Why not Mary, or even Merry? Is it supposed to be pronounced like Murray? I would half think so from the spelling.

cece · 11/11/2008 14:26

I have no idea how it is pronounced, just found it in a baby name book.

AbbeyA · 11/11/2008 14:35

Verity, Anna and Kate

seeker · 11/11/2008 14:37

Isn't there an old name Meriel? Or did Kenton Archer's ex wife make it up?

jkklpu · 11/11/2008 15:25

Lara is my favourite
Meriel is certainly a pretty name - my sil's in fact, though she's often shortened to Mel. And my aunt's called Verity - I like al ot of the old virtue-based names, eg Hope, Faith, Constance

chocolateteapot · 11/11/2008 15:31

Verity, Anna, Kate and Lara.

cece · 11/11/2008 16:54

jkklpu - yes I do too, I lost a little girl last year and we named her Hope.

I have a feeling though that DH probably won't like most of the names in the list...

Has anyone got any suggestions for boys names? Nothing in the top 50 names, but also nothing 'unusual' either. The only ones I can think of are Daniel shortened to Dan or Danny or maybe Eddie of something like that. I think though that Daniel will be in the top 50!

Neeerly3 · 11/11/2008 16:57

I have an Edward and Arthur - Edward is defo in top 50 and I think Arthur is creeping in now too.....

Henry
William
Oliver
Harry
Charlie
Hector
Felix
Oscar

is my list

cece · 11/11/2008 17:02

sigh there are so few boys names that I like that are not in the top 50. It took ages to come up with a name for DS that we could agree on. Let's hope it is a girl!

only really like Lara out of the girls list
