Jacob or Noah

Liffey · 10/11/2008 18:20

Noah - no, too biblical and ending in a, I just don't like it much.

Jacob - a lovely name but v. popular.

Jasper - I like this, but do you run a small antiques shop near Portobello?? You can't tell me you work in a bank. I prefer Victor, tis cooler and less predictably trendy than Jasper.

Barny - Barney, short for Barnaby. I like this. However, I would prefer Zachary or Gregory or Malachy. Barney is ok. Cute. But is cute enough?

Kaleb - OK spelt Caleb, but although I quite like it, I don't love it.

From your list, Jacob or Barnaby/Barney.

Noah - love it

Jacob - like it, but not keen on Jake!

Jasper - not keen

Barny - dont like ( 2 guys at school were Barnaby shortened to Barney)

Kaleb - like it as Caleb

lunamoon2 · 11/11/2008 23:00

Jacob is my fave.
Noah-too biblical (don't know why it seems more so than Jacob but it does)
Barney reminds me of Barney the bear(which was my favourite programme as a child, actually as I am saying it, it is growing on me.

Don't like Kaleb-sounds evil somehow!!

Jasper reminds me of Jasper carrot or the ghost!

hollyandnoah · 11/11/2008 23:08

Noah is my fave that's my ds name.

Kaleb is nice, but not as nice as Noah. :D

I don't really like any of the others.

My son was almost called Noah but in the end we just used it as a middle name.

But what I didn't realise then that old Noah wasn't just an animal-loving craftsman but in later life owned a vineyard, drank too much of the product and "shamed his children with his nakedness". And that's why Noahs are a bit thin on the ground.

I still think Noah is a lovely name - but I don't know if I would have picked it if I had known!

AtheneNoctua · 11/11/2008 23:26

I like

Caleb (but not Kaleb)
Jacob (bu there are a zillion Jakes around)
Noah
Jasper

As for Barny/Barney, well reminds me of the Flinstones.

Noah - lovely but there are loads of them about. That needn't be a deterrent.

Jacob - ditto.

Jasper - doesn't work for me.

Barny - even spelt correctly I don't like it. I misread your first post as Barmy.

Kaleb - if spelt correctly then very nice. I've never met a Caleb I didn't like.
