Just interested really...

I had it all sorted. And now I am in a right dither with only a few days to go.

If you panicked: did you end up going back to the original name?

Or did you go for an entirely different name and how long did that take?!

me me me! I have another thread going where I have been given the opportunity to have a name that I love and FFS I am umming and ahhing about it!

I think part of it is having discussed so many names for so long it all gets mixed up, like when you hear a word so many times it sounds funny, or maybe the idea of reality comes in and you start doubting yourself?

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 18/10/2008 08:10

No. All sorted before the birth, middle names and all.

frazzledoldbag34 · 18/10/2008 10:44

We've changed our minds both times when the babies have been born. We just looked at them and went 'nope', and picked something that suited them (off the original long-list but not the name we had decided on. ) Always kept the middle names though.
It's such a big decision - and so hard to get it just right I think.

2point4kids · 18/10/2008 10:48

DS1 name was sorted early on and we stuck with until he was born.
DS2 we had name sorted again but wavered near the end. I did end up changing my mind and going with a different name once he was born. Am very happy that I did.

We squabbled more about names in the final week than any other time.

Ended up going with the first name that was put on the list after I peed on the stick. Wasn't my first choice but it was close.

I was slightly panicking in case we were going to have a boy as I wasn't that keen on the name DH we had decided on. I was 98% certain we were going to have a girl though, so I wasn't too concerned as loved the name we had chosen. We had a girl

Good luck!

ds1 - iknew at about 25 weeks
ds2 - a choice of 2 names - he looked more like a Jamie Levi i thought - v pleased i chose this
dd - was Millie (Mimi) since 19 weeks pg

DH is trying to get me to agree him naming dc4 if a boy, i can name if girl - NO chance!!

fizzpops · 18/10/2008 14:11

We didn't know we were having a girl but had four names picked out - didn't decide till she was a day old but I can't imagine we seriously thought we would end up using a couple of the others so really only two contenders. Wasn't panicking though as we tended to agree on quite a lot of girl's names we liked.

Boys names I was panicking a bit as we had no idea. I like fairly traditional names for boys and didn't want to duplicate family or friends names and we both have large families so was slim pickings.

Bonnycat · 18/10/2008 15:45

We picked both our DCs names when we found out the sex at 20 weeks and never budged.

meandmyjoe · 18/10/2008 18:48

I never paniced, we narrowed our ds' name down to either Joseph or Jayden as soon as we found out we were having a boy. Then we heard Britney Spears had a boy called Jayden and we were reminded how chavvy it was and how it will go out of fashion so we stuck with Joseph since about 23 weeks pregnant.

notnowbernard · 18/10/2008 18:53

PAnicked with dc2

Had a name for a girl

Had absolutely NO IDEA for a boy

Luckily baby was dd2

babyOcho · 18/10/2008 19:02

Panicked for the boys, but was set on the girls name... we had DD and now really hate the boys names that we had.

MerryMarigold · 19/10/2008 03:15

I've known for 23 weeks what I'm having and I'm still panicking! Wondered if it's just a late pregnancy thing, but sounds like a lot of you changed minds and were pleased you did! Thanks. I'm sure when I stop panicking then inspiration will hit!

Yes. DD1 was named from before I got pregnant - still had the wobblers with her name. DD2 was going to have a different name, until my end of pregnancy wobble - we then chose the name she has now got. We still wobbled and thought of changing that a few months after she was born. I am happy with both choices now.
