I like the name lilia

nooka · 14/10/2008 17:10

I prefer either Lila or Lilian. I've not come across a Lilia

frazzledoldbag34 · 14/10/2008 19:22

Love Lilia.
Especially Lilia off Strictly.
(She's fab).
Very pretty name, but can't imagine it being extrememly popular at the moment tho????

barnsleybelle · 14/10/2008 19:32

never heard it before, but i think it's beautiful.

Flibbertyjibbet · 14/10/2008 19:33

Another one here who thought of tampons. Sorry.

Rose100 · 14/10/2008 20:49

My best pal recently named her third DD Lilia- lovely name!

A cabbie recently told me his baby is a Lilia.

Given the popularity of the name Lily and Strictly's fabulous Lilia it's bound to become more popular.

platypussy · 14/10/2008 20:54

Sorry but the name shouts 'sanitary products'

Flibbertyjibbet · 14/10/2008 21:10

I am becoming more and more convinced that there was some sanitary towell product called Lilia in the 70's when I started my periods.

So I just googled and I was right. Lilia was a sanitary towell made my Smith and Nephew.

Don't call your baby that. Any woman over 40 will think 'sanitary towell'.

Sorry again.

Flum · 14/10/2008 21:12

Probably because I have a baby due - but it reminds me of Labia!

solidgoldskullonastick · 14/10/2008 21:13

There was a sanitary towel called Lilia. It's nearly as inadvisable as calling your DD Candida.

LynetteScavo · 14/10/2008 21:15

I'm not sure....I do love Liliana though....

Flum · 14/10/2008 21:19

Mmmm Liliana is nice

franch · 14/10/2008 21:21

Yep, I thought of sanitary products too I'm afraid - glad I'm not the only one

fizzpops · 17/10/2008 08:22

Lilja is the Icelandic form of Lily which I loved for a while but now think it would take a bit of explaining. The only person I mentioned it to said the thing about Strictly Come Dancing when that was NOT the inspiration at all and I would be if people thought that was how I chose it.

nickeldime · 19/10/2008 16:32

It's a form of Liliana, but Liliana is in my opinion too common - Lilia would be a good choice:

baby name Lilia

artichokes · 19/10/2008 16:36

Its very popular in Eastern Europe, therefore in my part of London, where there is a large Polish population, it is increasingly popular.

It reminds me of one of the most heart wrenching films I have ever watched: Lilia Forever (its about the sex trade and Lilia did not have a happy life).

Liffey · 19/10/2008 18:25

I like Leila. But it's a bit too soft imo. I like a name to have a bit more strength. Pretty but strong. Lydia with Lila as a nn would be better imo.

Lyla, Layla etc very 'of the moment' mix them in with Lily and Ella and Ellie and that's a lot of Ls.

Liffey · 19/10/2008 18:25

I do like Leila, this spelling, but it's a bit too soft imo. I like a name to have a bit more strength. Pretty but strong. Lydia with Lila as a nn would be better imo.

Blandmum · 19/10/2008 18:26

tampons

Liffey · 19/10/2008 18:26
