Sorry - I should have explained the meaning of Theodore. Personally, I love it and, as 'gift of God' is not specific to any religion, I think it would fit within most backgrounds and cultures. But if you are members of the National Secular Society or friends of Richard Dawkins it might be an odd choice!

Well I really like Mungo-(and I do remember Mary Mungo and midge, albeit vaguely, was Mungo a big mastiff type dog?)Anyway,Mungo is getting my vote!

I like Peter Hester and Henrietta

Not keen on Hannah, Henrietta, Peter or Hercules (poor lad if he's a bit on the thin side..), like the rest. And bucking the trend I like Mungo.

I LOVE Hester; it's the name I've always wanted to give any daughter I might have. BUT everyone I've suggetsed it to, particularly DH looks at me in horror. You might want to consider that.

Agree with the others that Sofia is lovely but spelled Sophia rather than after the capital of Bulgaria.

Other thoughts:
Every Henrietta I have ever known (and I went to an uptight boarding school so knew several) got called Harry.
I actually don't mind Mungo but you've got to be wierd or have an enormous personality to carry it off.
My dad was called Peter and it is very 70's. Always makes me think of his white Lancia...

Hercules. Are you kidding me ? Unless you're wanting to make him really tough after all the beatings he's going to get at school. In which case, why not go the whole hog and call him Ptolomey or Torquil ?

Like - Theodore (fab) and Peter
Jemima, Hannah and Henrietta, Sophia but not Sofia

Hester makes me think of John Irving and Hester the Molester..
