middle name to go with Eve

Had a little girl 3 days ago, still no name!!

Already have a little girl called Iris who is almost 2 but just can't get a name we love this time.

Liking Eve at the moment but before we had her we'd kind of agreed on Nora. DP not keen on Nora now. My problem is that i want to be sure its the right one and i'm not just making a decision based on my hormones and also i need a middle name that flows well.

Nora would have been Nora Joan (joan after my lovely gran who died in april) but i can't get a middle name to sound right with eve.

Need one middle name as both my other kids have one and want to keep them all the same!

Any suggestions??

My son who is 4 likes evie, dp says he'd probably call her that but i must say i much prefer eve. I agree however that evie flows better with other names.

Our surname starts with an e which is another pain in the a.

Evie says cutsie pie wee girl to me, she was 61cms long at birth, i'm thinking she may not stay wee and cutsie for long. DP 6ft 8. Eve says tall and elegant to me (and potentially naked with a leaf covering mons pubis...)

I want harriett if I have another girl hotmama.
dh is opposed but I will give it to her as a middle name regardless. I love the nickname 'hattie'

Love Eva but best friends daughter is ava, too similar.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Gosh 6ft8. OK stick with Eve, its lovely. Also Eva sounds a bit east european. Lots of the eastern bloc girls have this name. I will bow out. Good luck.

sorry totally inappropriate really - but every time I read the thread title I just think

"ning"

hughjarssss · 20/09/2008 21:50

Am SO of you hotmama. I really wish I had named dd Eva Harriet.
But I choose Eva (my mums midle name) so dd got to choose her middle name

minkersmum · 20/09/2008 21:52

Just found joan on that site and it says it means gift. That makes me want Eve Joan but don't think they sound good together. This naming business is so hard!!

Let us know what you pick??

ledodgy · 20/09/2008 21:53

I agree that Eve is nicer than Evie it grows up with them iyswim but then I would say that!
If you do go with Eve you have the comedy of explaing Christmas Eve to her when she's a toddler. It's hilarious 'It's Christmas Eve', 'yes I know it's Christmas', 'no it's Christmas Eve, Eve' 'why are you saying my name all over again mummy?' and on and on.

singyswife · 20/09/2008 21:53

What about Sara-Joan. You get sara-Jane so why not.

minkersmum · 20/09/2008 22:09

We keep calling her Iris (dd1 name),maybe just have Iris 1 and Iris 2 as i love her name.

Eve is a lovely name. Agree that a longer middle name goes better with a short first name

minkersmum · 20/09/2008 22:29

Can't find a longer middle name we like so may go with Eve Nora Joan.

How about Eve Charlotte?

pgwithnumber3 · 20/09/2008 22:39

website with names that mean gift here

Remotew · 20/09/2008 22:41

Eve Nora Joan. That rolls of the tongue nicely. Call her that.

Plonker · 20/09/2008 23:50

Do you like Evelyn?

You could use Eve as nn

Evelyn works lovely with Nora or Joan or both
Evelyn Nora
Evelyn Joan
Evelyn Nora Joan

gigglewitch · 20/09/2008 23:52

Lucia
Marina

Ha! Plonker! I was just about to suggest Evelyn Joan too...shortened to Eve for everyday use. I have a cousin Evelyn Joy and she shortens it to Eve. I think it's lovely.

Congratulations minkersmum.
