What do you think? Cece for short?

Lapin, I knew you weren't being serious, I was reminiscing on my name choosing habits for DD1!

Elastic, you don't seem happy with Leah! How come? Nothing wrong with it and sounds nice with Cecily. Another question, how do people react to her name, is it or or !?

love it

I am thinking of Cecily or Romilly

thumbwitch · 19/09/2008 10:51

always liked it since my teens - but DH doesn't so off our list for any future DDs

mazzystar · 19/09/2008 10:53

very nice
I know a baby Celia which is also lovely

FairLadyRantALot · 19/09/2008 10:54

love it
a friend has a year old dd called cecilia and shes gorgeous
she's ceci for short

EachPeachPearMum · 19/09/2008 11:17

Hmm- Romilly is lovely too!
We know a Cece.... but it is short for Syenna [sic]

Erm isn't Grace the most popular girl's name from last year? It is gorgeous though.

pgwithnumber3 · 19/09/2008 11:23

EachPeach, exactly - Grace has been number 1 for the past 2 years - my Grace is 6, it was around number 25 in the charts when we chose it so weren't expecting it to fly up quite so fast. I do love it though, such a classic name, you can see why is it so popular.

That is why we want something a bit more unusual, DD2 is Maya (after my nana, she was Marguerite and Maya is a shortening of it) and love the fact that I don't hear it all the time but no doubt it will get more popular.

Love Cece spelled Cecy mrswoolf! Good ideas are coming my way.

Cecily is lovely.

My Grace is 12 - nearly 13. She's at a Secondary school with 1400 girls and only 3 Graces. There are 8 among the nearly 200 girls at ds's primary!

Seeker, you started the trend! I love it though, my favourite ever name. Always wanted to call my first DD Grace. In Grace's primary there are 4 classes per year and out of the 70/80 girls there are only the 2 of them.

It was funny, I wanted something that was slightly unusual but not eyebrow raising. We chose Grace, and the first time I went to a mother and baby I put my little red haired baby down on a rug next to another red haired baby - who turned out to be called Grace! And the two of them have met again now in Secondary school 12 years later.

CaptainNancy · 19/09/2008 11:43

that was bound to happen- even if you'd called her Sharon or Mavis!

Spidermama · 19/09/2008 11:47

There are a couple of these at school. I think it's a bit overly girly and too old fashioned for myh liking.

pgwithnumber3 · 19/09/2008 12:12

My Grace has red hair as well (well more strawberry now but if you look on my profile she was very red as a baby)!

Love Cecily.

Makes me think of Cecily Mary Barker.

GrapeJelly · 19/09/2008 12:41

Lovely, gorgeous name!

seeker · 19/09/2008 12:57

That's 3 red-haired Graces, pg! Your family is gergous by the way!

What are the chances in a school of 1400 girls there would be two Graces with waist length red hair in the same form!

pgwithnumber3 · 19/09/2008 13:07

Oh thank you seeker! My Grace wants to grow her hair to her waist but if it is anything like mine, it won't grow past her chest. Knowing the young girls these days, she will be demanding Britney esq extensions come her 10th Birthday. That is unusual for the two Graces to meet up again and both have the same distinctive hair!

Leah wouldn't have been my choice but I can live with it. Leah was 2nd choice of wife after Rachel for the biblical character (Jacob?) which is not very flattering.
