Loving the name Tansy but wondering if it is cute for a little girl but a bit naff for a young woman? Hmmmmm

Your thoughts most welcome [grin}

I know a grown up called Tansy - doesn't seem twee - she is not a girlie girl

dancedance · 16/09/2008 20:18

Sounds like a sun bed shop
How about Tamzin instead? could have Tamsy as nickname?

angrypixie · 16/09/2008 20:22

Don't like Tamzin......but like the idea that Tansy could be a pet name for something else, just not Tamzin! Hmmmmm

I know a Tansy. Is an unusual name but not only for a little girl I think. Also it is a "proper" thing i.e. a sort of flower rather than something made up so that helps.

Grumpalina · 16/09/2008 20:28

I usually hate 'unusual' names but I really like it (and Tamsin was the name I wanted for DS2 if he'd been aDD obviously)

angrypixie · 16/09/2008 20:30

I'm liking the response so far, well except the sunbeds

Sorry! it is cute sounding, and I like the meaning and that it's a flower (though a poisonous one I think )

GYo · 16/09/2008 20:48

I once knew a Tamazine.. slight twist on this...

hellymelly · 16/09/2008 20:51

I think Tansy is a lovely name and not too little girly, rather elegant IMO.

funnypeculiar · 16/09/2008 20:58

I like it & don't think it's too little/cutsey at all

Tansy is indeed a plant - widely used as medicinally too en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tansy

pointydog · 16/09/2008 20:59

Tamazapam

FranSanDisco · 16/09/2008 21:03

There is a composer called Tansy ??? I'm sure.

LynetteScavo · 16/09/2008 21:12

I really don't think its' to cute or girly. It's pretty, but could be carried off by a lawer, or arctic exporer for example. Not that there will be much arctic exploring left to do, but you know what I mean.

strummer · 16/09/2008 21:30

What about TaNsin with Tansy for short.
or
Tanni Grey-Thompson her name really is
Carys Davina "Tanni" Grey-Thompson

geminigirl · 17/09/2008 10:58

Marne · 17/09/2008 11:02

Tammie?

cherrylips · 17/09/2008 11:09

My cousin's dd is called Anastasia, and Tansy for short.

Stars22 · 17/09/2008 11:10
