Theodore or Alexander?

just a matter of opinion, please?

Theodore (shortened to Theo)

or Alexander (shortened to Xander)???

My ex likes one & I like the other!!!

with middle names would prob end up

or Alexander Reuben

I know brothers called Alexander & Theodore - Alex & Theo - aged 15 & about 8. Lovely boys

I'm not v keen on Xander (is it from Buffy?)

My elder DSS is Alexandre, shortened to Alex. A very nice name (which I could easily have chosen myself). Xander is pretentious, however.

Theo is very nice, too.

I reckon Theo and Xander both sound a touch poncy,,,,,,,but then who says there's anything wrong with a touch of ponce? If pushed I'd go with Theo, but Alexander is also gorgeous. I'd pick your favorite and stick with it - after all you're the one who has to push the baby out of your fou-fou (sorry to be graphic, but really that's the truth of the matter!!!!!!!!!) - so if there is a dispute you get the casting vote (IMO anyway).

Theodore is a brilliant name. He can be Teddy, Ted, Theo or Theodore when he's grown up and Prime Minister. That's my rationale for naming my DS Theodore.

I like both. In fact, it's a really tough choice

I think Theodore wins, but only just.

Alexander. I agree with the Walcott comments. Alex is so timeless - you can't go wrong.

can i just pointr out that no matter what you would like your ds to be shortened to

if you call him alexander he will get called alex

that said i prefer alexander anyway :D

Too many Alexanders about. I know four and that's just among my DS's pals.
