I would love a name that is linked with nature/seasons for my bump (possibly a phase my hormones are going thru, but please humour me...

I like Sky, so far...

Having trouble beyond that particularly with boys names...

Our newborn ds is Skyler (popular in US - derived from/anglicised version of Schuyler, Scandinavian surname). We call him Sky .

Everyone in rl (and I suspect on MN had I asked) has been a bit but my aunt excitedly told me there is a man called Sky in Mamma Mia (and Sky Masterson from Guys and Dolls) - so maybe a popular name for boys of the future?

I like Leif too.

And Cumulus isn't bad - for a boy. Very Roman Emperor

GrimmaTheNome · 13/09/2008 20:42

A friend of a friend has just had a little girl and called her Autumn.

I was a bit about it at first, but the more I think about it, its quite a pretty name.

GrimmaTheNome · 13/09/2008 21:09

Is this the explanation for some of the name choices in the states? At the baby shower friends suggest names and in amongst some nice ideas someone takes the p and suggests something like, oh, I dunno, Bristol, and having no ear for irony or geography the poor kid gets saddled with it?

janeite · 13/09/2008 21:12

A boy called Leaf scared me on my first day at playschool, therefore I will never think kindly about anybody called Leaf.

how about naming after a river / mountain / landscape / lake etc.?
Theres a 'Trent' in My Parents are Aliens, Ive always thought that cool. Depends how wacky you want to be.

Dawn, I dont think has been mentioned yet.

Sassamac · 14/09/2008 09:18

just thought most things ending in ...'ley' means meadow. I googled it once because both my kids names end in 'ey' (coincedence) so I contemplated going for the hatrick. My fave is Oakley which just means oak meadow.

bumbling · 14/09/2008 09:18

I knew a boy called Rainbow...

TheodoresMummy · 14/09/2008 11:15

Liking Oakley

DH wouldn't go for Rainbow, although he is being a lot more open minded than he was when naming DS...
