What do you think? Is this a safe bet or do I need to go back to the drawing board?

God no! Jackson's, as in Jackson Pollock is rhyming slang

I like ti but then don;t understand not liking surnames as first names - in Wales all surnames were first names - John Evan son = John Evans; David ap (son of) Richard = David Pritchard etc

mazzystar · 10/09/2008 22:42

actually isn't Lewis an island?

Love Jackson.

Kewcumber · 10/09/2008 22:45

(Oh and Morgan and Lewis are first names which became a surnames too not the other way around )

FanjolinaJolly · 10/09/2008 22:47

It's a top name! It is not necessarily a surname at all (any more than Lewis etc).

It's a hugely important family name for me, so I hold it very dear and it's definitely not new either.

'Tis my Dad's name, was my Great-grandfather's name(b 1800s), was my Grandfather's middle name, is my brother's ds1's and my first nephew's middle name and now is my newest nephew's first name and I'm sure it will carry on in our family for years to come. I love it - can you tell? Perfectly safe, not unheard of. Go for it I say! Oh, and everyone calls my Dad by his full first name - it's never shortened. His nickname in his schooldays was derived from his surname!

Aero · 10/09/2008 23:30

That's my ds1's, not my brothers (who is ny nephew anyway). Missed out the all important comma there!

Lewis is an Island, I used to live there.

There are so many little boys called Lewis up there!
