Sophie?

why cant i decide on a name and stick with it?

am now considering Sophie.

thoughts?

can it rhyme with anything rude for that oh so lovely 'teasing people at school about their name' stage that kids go through.

DD2 (5) is a Sophie and we love the name- we do sometimes shorten it to Soph, if we're being lazy. We know 2 other Sophie's, one is 12 the other is 2. It's a name that is timeless and beautiful.

It's a beautiful name - and, as someone's already said, won't sound out of place when she's 20 or 80 - so don't let its popularity deter you if it's your favourite.

Potential nicknames are Sofa, Soapy, soph - nothing really bad...I have yet to come across a really offensive one and I am 38!!! My theory is that it was Corrie that caused the popularity - when I was small there was only one other Sophie in the entire secondary school.later on the younger years started filling up w them. Still, I have liked being a Sophie and would recommend it!

love it. Wanted Sofia if DS was a girl but DH said everyone would think we'd copied princess letizia (We live in Spain) as her second was born and called that the same year.

Sophie is a beautiful name. Was a contender for both our dd2 and dd3 ..still not sure why we didn't use it ...(??)

I think it is a lovely name (and SO much more elegant and pretty than Sophia).

It is popular, but not as common as all that - I only know 2 children and 1 adult with that name

How about Josie (Josephine) - a similar sort of "vibe" to Sophie and not as common

DD was going to be Sofia but she didn't look like one when I finally saw her (makes sense to me ) Quite glad we decided this now as one of her friends at school (who's a kissing cousin in that weird extended Cypriot family way) is called Sophie - it definitely suits the other little girl more than it would have suited DD. It's a very sweet name.

uuuuuuuurgh the 17yr old that ran off with the father of my ds is called Sophie!!! So think I'm a bit biased :p I know she gets called Loaf and Sofa LOL. Sophia is much nicer
