What are opinions on Lorna?

Okay if you're Scottish, a bit meh if you are not.
Dated too. I know of two in their forties.

I like it a lot.

actually I wanted it for future dds - had picked it after reading lorna doone when very small!!!

Don't agree that it needs to be Scottish. I had a very cool, stylish, rather well-spoken English friend called Lorna and think it's an excellent name.

Yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with Scotland if it was invented by Blackmore for Lorna Doone. She was in the West Country.

I think its a superb name.
But the downside is that she wont be able to spend her souveneir money on personalised tat from gift shops; there's hardly any stuff with that name! Then again, I've called my kids names that I've never seem on a keyring or a room plaque etc, so who I am to talk?!

My middle name as we have Scottish connections.

I have a Lorna. She's nearly 7 and I have never come across another girl her age with that name - we chose it because it isn't used very much. I like Laura but thought Lorna was more unusual.

I love both Laura and Lorna. They are such feminine, pretty names and also traditional and classic. My dd is Laura (2.5), named after Laura Ingalls (sp, havn't had cuppa yet!!) of Little House on the Prairie fame.

Love Lorna too because of the literary connection. Also like Leah.

So if have another dd will have to wrack brains to make sure their names don't sound too similar.
