Gwen Stefani's new baby boy has joined the ranks of bizarrely named celeb children - Zuma

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hw2004 · 22/08/2008 17:22

I thought Zuma sounded more like a girl than a boy. Hmmm, can't say i'm convinced!!

RipMacWinkle · 22/08/2008 17:23

Makes me think of those car ads - Zoom, zoom

Fimbo · 22/08/2008 17:23

Sounds like a sumo wrestler to me.

The other boy is Kingston which in Slebville isn't too bad.

NorkyButNice · 22/08/2008 17:25

Actually there's a v addictive game on Xbox live called Zuma - not great inspiration for naming your child.

I agree it doesn't go with Kingston at all!

When I read the thread title I assumed sh'd had a girl. The Nesta bit sounds girly too.

Just googled and Zuma is a boys name but Nesta is a girls name. Don't really have anything to say about rock

lulu25 · 22/08/2008 17:50

zuma = juice

nesta = captain haddock's butler

FlirtyThirty · 22/08/2008 18:16

Zuma...the South African ANC leader? Hardly a man for anyone's children to aspire to emulating!

JackieNo · 22/08/2008 18:25

Is it definitely Nesta and not Nestor?

JackieNo · 22/08/2008 18:26

Nestor?

MrsMattie · 22/08/2008 21:04

Nesta is Bob Marley's middle name (spelled Nesta, not Nestor, I believe). Seeing as her other son is Kingston, I bet it's after Bob.

Olipop · 22/08/2008 21:10

Think Zuma is a super trendy restaurant in London....place of conception maybe?????

JackieNo · 22/08/2008 22:03

That could explain it then, MrsMattie.

elmoandella · 22/08/2008 22:15

lol, in scotland (and it will happen as gavin is from scotland) it will get called a zoomer. as in a space cadet

MannyMoeAndJack · 22/08/2008 22:20

Zuma is also the name of a popular beach in Malibu - used for the filming of Baywatch apparently.

Mammina · 22/08/2008 22:27

Nesta is a Welsh name, does she have welsh connections? Probably with a name like Gwen...

MannyMoeAndJack · 22/08/2008 22:29

Also, Zuma is a diminutive form of Montezuma

cyteen · 23/08/2008 17:12

Just makes me think of ordering zuma del dia at this nice juice bar in Barcelona.

/tangent

It's a poor selection of monikers IMO, too many 'a' endings apart from them all being fugly.

cyteen · 23/08/2008 17:13

Well, actually I guess it was zumo del dia, but you get the drift.
