DS has an Iranian name (not too wacky),now pg with number 2. May as well go with another Persian name (we're not Iranian but have links with the country).

Girl: Shirin, Anahita, Zarin, Parin, Hestia

Boy: Jasper or Caspar, Cyrus.

any thoughts? (DS is Darius)..

i know it's not on you list but i really like Mina, or is it Meena? also Leila is nice, think they are both persian.

broccolispears · 13/08/2008 13:38

I like Hestia.

vinous · 13/08/2008 13:39

anahita

Lizzylou · 13/08/2008 13:41

Love Hestia for a girl and all of your boys names are lovely

Iklboo · 13/08/2008 13:43

I love Anahita and Shirin and both Jasper and Caspar
(love your other DS is Darius too)

Gemzooks · 13/08/2008 13:49

Weegiemum · 13/08/2008 13:52

I like Shirin, Zarin, Parin
I also like all the boys names, inc Darius for your ds

Hope you find something you like. Do you have Persian conections?

IorekByrnison · 13/08/2008 13:53

Love Cyrus and Cecily

Weegiemum · 13/08/2008 13:53

Just saw your latest post - also like Felicity, Joy and Cecily.

No to Bram. Bram Stoker??

cyteen · 13/08/2008 14:30

I like Hestia and Caspar. Shirin is ok. How about Afarin?

Of your English names, Rosamund is my favourite, and actually I think Bram (Bramwell?) is pretty cool.

Gemzooks · 13/08/2008 14:37

thanks for replies! I was born in Iran and my father was crazy about Iran and spoke Farsi fluently, hence the interest.

Afarin, hm, might look that up!

Slouchy · 13/08/2008 14:44

Like Hestia, Caspar.

Have you considered Maryam? such a pretty nname IMO

edam · 13/08/2008 14:45

Nice names - only objection I can think of is that Shirin might possibly be confused with Sharon. Maybe Cyrus is a bit too close to Darius?

Sputnik · 13/08/2008 14:53

Zarin and Hestia are nice. Leila is also a Persian name.
Like Jasper and Caspar, but Cyrus too close to Darius. How about Omar?

minouminou · 13/08/2008 15:00

am liking caspar
idly thought about it myself

ShowOfHands · 13/08/2008 15:02

Hestia's nice. Like all the boys names.

Bram's ok on its own. It's short for Abraham though, no?

3andnomore · 13/08/2008 15:04

Of your girlsname I only like Shirin, tbh....and not keen on any of your boys names, sorry!

Ava is a lovely girlsname of Iranian background
or Farah
or Mina
or Tara

or for a boy:
Anoush
Aron
Javid
Malek/Malik
Rasool
Yamin
Yavar

Sputnik · 13/08/2008 15:45

Roxanne is Persian too IIRC

laweaselmys · 13/08/2008 15:57

I like Anahita/Annahita because it can be as persian or as mainstream as your DC wants it to be. Probably just because I know an Annahita. I don't dislike any of them actually, although I think Cyrus is particularly nice for a boy.

raggety · 13/08/2008 16:08

I like all your names.

Also like Norjan (sp? 'Norzyan') for a boy. I think it means something to do with pine tree, i.e. tall and straight.

Good luck.

Boobz · 13/08/2008 16:12

Hestia for the girl.

And definitely Cyrus for a boy. One of my husband's best friends is called Cyrus and he is one of the coolest people you will ever meet - writer, drum and bass DJ, food critic and all round ace person.

rodg82 · 13/08/2008 22:11

My friends little girl is called Elika which is a persian name...

DaddyJ · 14/08/2008 10:14

For a boy it has to be Cyrus!
Might create friction with his brother, though,
as Cyrus can refer to himself as The Great whereas Darius can't!

I once knew a Persian girl called Roya - lovely name.
Maryam and Mina seconded. Shirin is a classic Iranian name, very popular I believe.

LuLuBai · 14/08/2008 10:25

I would personally avoid Cyrus with Darius. It's a bit too matchy-matchy with the 'us' ending but they are all good names.

I think Dahlia is a particularly lovely girls name.
