devonsmummy · 11/08/2008 13:09

I like it - it was on shortlist for DS.

I've only heard of one person called Blaise and i commented on his name every time I spoke to him. ( which in hindsight probably drove him mad!)
I think it's a strong sounding name - not remotely feminine.

ditheringdora · 11/08/2008 13:14

I love it, honestly, it was on my list...

CountessDracula · 11/08/2008 13:20

I knew a Blaise
He was a great lump
so no

but I don't mind it as a name

hollyandnoah · 11/08/2008 13:25

Blaise is my dogs name... he's a german spitz and came with the name, i didnt like it at first but thought it might be too lste for a change.

VictorianSqualor · 11/08/2008 13:28

No, No and thrice No.

midnightexpress · 11/08/2008 13:31

Poncetastic, I'm afraid.

DaddyJ · 11/08/2008 13:37

And just for good measure Blaise's French- and German-speaking friends will have a riot with his name.
'Blaise moi!' and 'Na, Blaiset Du mir einen?!' come to mind.
Nobody deserves that.

Megglevache · 11/08/2008 13:39

I am really sorry saying this but it's the ahem very popular name for children around here who's middle names are Calgon-Ray etc.

Get my drift?

back off everyone! I declared this name as the property of Cagney Enterprises ages ago. If I was a technical person, I could link to the thread... but I'm not.
And there is a St Blaise, the patron saint of...ta-da....sore throats.

Honestly, I lurve this name and every time you say something bad a little piece of me.. Nah, not really.
Now, I think, what will you all make of dd's name?

oopsadaisyangel · 11/08/2008 14:02

DS decided the other day that if our new baby is a boy then he doesn't want it to be called Harry (our choice of name) he wants it to be called Blaise - but I think thats because one of the POwer Rangers is called Blaise

SoupDragon · 11/08/2008 14:05

Poncey and girlie IMO

jamescagney · 11/08/2008 14:12

And there is a famous barrister called Blaise Carroll here in Ireland. I dimly remember him as being quite dishy.
Am off to eat a huge comfort lunch and sob over the abuse my imaginary Blaise is getting. Gay icedancer indeed, isn't that what every (clingy) Mummy wants? We could talk about meaningful stuff, instead of bloody Clarkson maybe and feelings and things...

SSSandy2 · 11/08/2008 14:26

I think no

ethanchristoper · 17/08/2008 23:29

i like it

blaize is a better spelling though otherwise it looks like blay-sss
