Naming party - what's the etiquette?

Been invited to a naming party for a baby who will be 4 mo on the day.

But have never been to one before so just wondering what the etiquette is... do we treat it as we would a christening, ie dress posh, bring present?

Feel woefully ignorant, and my old-fashioned etiquette books don't feature such a new-fangled invention

You can get naming day cards. Take a pressie too. As for dressing posh, naming days are usually a bit casual but can you ask other people what they are wearing?

DS naming day was smart casual, with people bringing presents if they felt like it - some did, some didn't (we weren't expecting any, but you might wanna err on the side o')
deffo get a card, though
enjoy!
