Trying to find a baby girl name that isn't in the top 50 but is not too weird.

I liked Darcy Athena but I have been outvoted by my husband, mum and 3 year old dd.

Esme Florence? I dont know more than one person with each of these names.

I called my first dd Freya Sunny,I like Sunny but I do hear so many Freya's now and I thought I was chooosing something a bit different!

love esme, not sure it goes with florence...

mazzystar · 07/08/2008 18:57

I love Florence
,
Esmee is okay

They are both old lady names though so i think both together is too much

Nbg · 07/08/2008 18:58

I dont like Esme Florence but I do like Florence Esme

Both gorgeous names.

mustsleep · 07/08/2008 18:58

love florence it was my gran's name we used to call her floss

babybarmy · 07/08/2008 19:14

I thought Florence was a bit too Magic Roundabout and old lady but everyone else seems to love it and look diapprovingly at my other suggestions.

My great aunt was called Florence but she changed it to Sue because she hated it.

Maybe something a bit funkier.. not sure what though..

I prefer Florence Esme too - a friend has just called her new DD Florence and they are shortening it to Florry which I like, rather than Flo

I like Esme too but not sure about Esme Florence....

mckenzie · 07/08/2008 19:32

I told the DCs yesterday that if I ever have another baby girl I will be calling her Florence I like Esme too.

kitsmummy · 07/08/2008 19:47

I like Esme and Florence individually, but I would have said that Esme was quite popular, is it not in the top 50?

What about Kitty or Clementine?

LaDiDaDi · 07/08/2008 20:10

I like Darcey Florence.

Like Esme but not so keen on Florence.

Bumperlicious · 07/08/2008 20:39

Esme is lovely, I know a 1 yr old called Esme, it's a gorgeous name. Not sure about Florence though.

Hulababy · 07/08/2008 21:00

I love the name Florence (shortened to Florrie ) Not as keen on Esme, but it is ok.

cthea · 07/08/2008 21:01

Not so keen on Esme but Florence is lovely. I also like your choice of Athena. I was on holiday last week and met French sisters called Athena, Olympia and Calypso. Way to go!

itsMYmummy · 07/08/2008 21:13

I really like Esme, don't dislike Florence but not too keen on it either. I love Darcey!

Neeerly3 · 07/08/2008 21:18

new baby on our block called Florence, it WAS on my list for bump 3 (sigh), love Esme too.

Matilda (Tilly) and Agatha (Aggie) are my favs at the mo.....

MrsJamin · 07/08/2008 21:30

One of my favourite baby friends is called Flo, it just suits her down to the ground.

sugarpeas · 07/08/2008 21:31

Is Darcy Florence an option.

southeatsastras · 07/08/2008 21:32

nice for a pet duck

barnsleybelle · 07/08/2008 21:43

Southeatsastras: LOL.

Freya is such a beautiful feminine name ( bit biased cos i have one!) and i think Esme is a bit too hard to go with it.

What about Niamh, Emmy, Mia ???

babybarmy · 07/08/2008 21:44

With my dd being called Freya , I thought Freya and Florence sounds like characters from a Cbeebies cartoon or a bit like a range of clothing at Tesco

lol..not thought about them as duck names.. would freak me out come the day of the birth if it was a duck I ended up naming. You will see me in the newspapers!
