what did you nearly call yours?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Monty, Rupert (which I still find OK but MW was horrified!?)... can't think of others.

WipingAssAndTakingNames · 04/08/2008 00:55

Just after my dd1 was born, I in my hormonal quagmire thought in some seriousness about Desdemona or Vladimira. Luckily, enough people gently reminded me it would be child cruelty. In the end we chose Felicity.

I like both Rufus and Monty - is that pg hormones speaking?

Merlin

muggglewump · 04/08/2008 22:18

Phoebe or Tabitha were the only others I considered for a girl.
She would have been Tristan if she'd been a boy

cadelaide · 04/08/2008 22:19

Adelaide.

God only knows why. Now I think it's ok-ish.

belcantavinissima · 04/08/2008 22:35

aurora/coco/bibi /violet (all names i still love!)

madeleine/amber (which i dont)

otis/sonny/fraser (still love)

harry/harvey (which i dont)- tho ds2 has harvey as his middle name. i conveniently forget that.

the names i dont like any more that i did at the time are quite common now where we live btw

belcant, I also went through the "harvey" thing, but we didn't go for it in the end.

I too love aurora/coco/bibi/violet. DD would have been a perfect Violet.

belcantavinissima · 04/08/2008 22:50

my grans name was violet. we called her india in the end. wish i had got violet in there somewhere

belcantavinissima · 04/08/2008 22:51

i meant we called dd india, not my gran

Oh I do like your names bel

Ineedsomesleep · 05/08/2008 09:28

DD would have been Emerson if she had been a DS. She also dodged Augustine, Juliet, Violet and Minni & Mimi!

DS would have been Jasmine or Daisy.

belgo · 05/08/2008 09:30

Caladaide - I know a frnech Adelaide. Sounds lovely with a french accent. Very old name.

Walkthedinosaur · 05/08/2008 09:33

DS2 was going to be Ethan until a week before he was born, then it was Noah which I still really like but DH didnt, so he got a different name which does actually suit him.

gladders · 05/08/2008 10:06

ds would have been sophie (still like it but wouldn't use as too many near us...) - when we knew he was a boy i wanted to call him charlie but dh thought everyone would just think about the drug connection

dd would have been george (love it ,love it - almost want another just to use the name!) - when we found it she was a girl we really struggled. i liked laura and dh liked alice. we ended up with something completely different after days of deliberation and now LOVE her name!

cadelaide · 05/08/2008 11:53

Yes belgo, now I'm starting to remember why I liked it!

LaDiDaDi · 05/08/2008 11:58

Lorna (fine)
Eliza (still like)
Edie (ok)
Aurora (hate now)
Velvet (what was I thinking!!!!)

If dd had been a ds...

Archie (I still like it dp doesn't)

reallyannoyednow · 05/08/2008 12:00

if my little dd was a ds, we (okay I) had picked Blaise. I still like it but it is weird!

purlease · 05/08/2008 12:01

if DD had been a DS, he would have been Arthur. Told people after DD was born and got mixed reactions - I still like it.

MmeLindt · 05/08/2008 12:03

I thought about Briana for DD

Glad we did not go for it though.

DS did not have a name until 3 days before the birth. Up till then we were thinking perhaps Gordon. Lucky escape there, he is absolutely not a Gordon
