I love this name and having been fighting against it but it's the only name i've liked constantly - is it a silly name?

My niece is called Poppy. But so is my friends dog.

Mavornia · 09/07/2008 21:46

I love it but I do wonder if it's a bit twee - feel the same way about Daisy

I don't entirely trust myself when it come to names (I have a penchant for outlandish hippy names which I have to keep firmly in check)

it's definitley on my list though

I've got one...I love it..

EVEN after shouting it 100 times a day

lljkk · 10/07/2008 11:44

I don't think it sounds like a grown-up name; I can't imagine CEO of big company or a prime minister called 'Poppy'.
But it's such a common/popular choice now, it probably will not sound so babyish in 30 years.

bluebellwood · 10/07/2008 20:50

It's nice.
It would be especially nice for a November 11th baby.

slalomsuki · 10/07/2008 20:54

It is a very popular name round here and there are 4 at dd's nursery including one who has a surname that rhymes with it.....sound like a christmas toy

Like it but too common and not for us

bikerunski · 10/07/2008 21:53

Like it, best naming of a Poppy I have come across was for a girl born on 11 November!

cazzybabs · 10/07/2008 21:57

I love it tooo...have it on my next time list (please please please let there be a next time)

amandine07 · 14/07/2008 11:25

I think Poppy is a lovely name- it's a sweet name for a little girl...I know a Poppy & have to say I don't think there is a problem at all with it suiting a grown woman.

popmonkey · 14/07/2008 11:40

DD1 is Poppy.

We had 2 names for a girl, Poppy and Georgia.
I liked Georgia, DH liked Poppy. When she came out, DH looked at me and I just said Poppy. It felt right.

It is getting more common, there are a few celebs with Poppys.

LookattheLottie · 14/07/2008 20:56

Poppy is a name that, like Matilda, I've recently come to adore! And I hated them in the past, but in the last couple of months I've grown to really like them.

I'm now of course spending all my time dreaming of having another two girls so that I can have Charlotte (dd),Matilda and Poppy!

violetsmile · 15/07/2008 20:57

Love it, very pretty and a name that people have heard of so won't take the p* but also not overdone and too popular.

AtheneNoctua · 15/07/2008 21:11

I don't like it, but then I don't really like the whole flower name thing (i.e. Daisy)

litterbug · 15/07/2008 21:12

I love it, but can't use it

pootleflump · 15/07/2008 21:23

My favourites atm are Matilda and Poppy, dh hates Matilda so if this one's a girl I think it'll be Poppy.

lilyloo · 15/07/2008 21:25

Love it
