Is the world ready for her?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Associations are just associations. Within reason. Obviously Maxine or Myra would be too strong an association to overcome, but I think that a child can make a name their own. So long as the association is not something disgusting or evil.

But saying that, Liz Hurley's Damian, I've got used to that.

Just saying "but there is a book/film/car/toybear called xyz" isn't that strong an argument against a name.

Despite being the name of FSF wife it is a rather good name - bit zany - nice to write. All names have associations some way or another - either public or within families etc.

zippitippitoes · 08/07/2008 22:35

i wanted it because of zelda fitzgerald lol

DrNortherner · 08/07/2008 22:35

Zelda sounds like a german shot putter imo.

I like Zara though. A woman at my work has a daughter called Xaria (pronounced Zaria)

TooTicky · 08/07/2008 22:37

I was a Zelda. Wish I'd kept it.

greenelizabeth · 08/07/2008 22:38

Intriguing. Did you change your name to Sarah when you were 13?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 08/07/2008 22:40

Erm, no.
I expressed a wish to change it when I was 4 or 5. New name wasn't fully my choice. Regret it muchly.

zippitippitoes · 08/07/2008 22:42

really toot how weird

i have never heard of anyone doing that

TooTicky · 08/07/2008 22:44

Will never let dcs change their names
Seriously, means you have to explain and justify things endlessly. Perhaps I'm over-sensitive, I was persuaded to change my surname when I weas in my teens....regret that too.

hatwoman · 08/07/2008 22:47

another one unable to take it seriously thanks to Nintendo.

Tatties · 08/07/2008 22:51

Bonzo Dog Doo Dah fan?

Beautiful Zelda from Galaxy 4 ...

AnnieLaurie70 · 10/07/2008 18:17

Perhaps Zelda Fitzgerald was a bit off but the name smacks of all things flapper and 1920s to me - which is very cool, imo.

pinata · 10/07/2008 19:48

Legend of Zelda is the best series of games ever made by nintendo - i'm surprised no-one has mentioned it.

Love the game - can't decide whether the connection spoils the name or makes it kind of cool...

pinata · 10/07/2008 19:52

oops - it did get mentioned - sorry read every post now...

leatrix · 26/10/2008 21:27

Liffey · 27/10/2008 13:15

Wow, that's funny! Can you work out who raaah is?!

RachieB · 31/10/2008 19:16

quite like Zara but not Zelda !

FatFanny · 31/10/2008 19:26

For me it's a witches name, for some reason, but years ago I did know a 3 year old called Zelda, and she was geogous.

I think it's the kind of name you have to be able to carry off.

Does anyone else remember Zelda from Grange Hill?

MrsMattie · 31/10/2008 21:06

Nope.

MrsMattie · 31/10/2008 21:06

Tinkywinks · 05/11/2008 00:32

Well my real first name is Selda (yes, with an S) which I have hated all my life and so I try not to use it anymore. Not very helpful but just wanted to get that off my chest.
