DD1's name ends 'ie', DD2 ends 'ey' so would another 'ee' sounding name be a no no ?

That's about it .....

We've got a boys name picked but are seriously struggling, have lots we like but none are jumping out that we love.
I find myself suggested loads that end with an 'ee' sound but I think it would sounds too much having 3DD's ending in 'ee' sounds

My DB's children are Charlie and Milly and they wanted Louis as a third but felt it was too 'eeeeeeeee' sounding so they called him Tom.

charlie, milly and tom sounds great!

FoghornLeghorn · 05/07/2008 15:18

I agree Collision .... I think a 1 syllable name sounds great with the eeeeeee sound - our boys name is 1 syllable.
Not finding 1 syllable girls names as easy to come by though. Dh likes Jess, I like Tess

As a child I was one of 3 girls with ee sounding names and it was often comented on. Strangly though our names were never shortened, not sure if this was a coincidence.

BTW i purposely sought names for my DC which avoided the ee sound, possibly for the reason that it was such a big thing in my childhood.

Personally If you like the name you should go for it, I don't believe DCs names have to go together either, they are individuals.
Did you choose to marry DH because your names went well together

I like sets of matching names. Mine all end in 'n' sound and have masses of syllables.

Collision · 05/07/2008 15:20

Grace
Anne
Jo
Bea
Kate
Lynne
Madge
Niamh
Pam
Ruth
Sam
Tess/Trix

not easy. and a lot of these are horrid.

Collision · 05/07/2008 15:24

of course children are individuals but I do think they should sort of go.

I would never have a (these are examples and not necessarily names I like)

george and callum
or
henry and finlay

but I would have george and henry or callum and finlay

I wouldnt have

Matilda and Chelsea
or
Ruby and Chardonnay

but I would have Matilda and Ruby and Chelsea and chardonnay!

scorpio1 · 05/07/2008 15:26

My dc names all end in ie sounds

So do mine and my 2 sisters, come to think of it. I like them matching - i often think if i have another DC i will have to find an ie name again!

FoghornLeghorn · 05/07/2008 15:29

PMSL @ Madge

Thanks all. DH think I'm thinking about it too much and if we like an eee sounding name then just go for it.

We have Evie & Casey atm and like these for girls this time :

Nancy
Darcy
Marcie
Izzy
Isla
Erin
Sienna
Tess
Jess

All are a bit wishy washy though, theres not one that stands out

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 05/07/2008 15:36

I like Marcie/Marcy

DH veteoed though. We have Millie.

scorpio1 · 05/07/2008 15:36

Would Jess be the name? Not Jessica, etc?

ChippyMinton · 05/07/2008 16:24

And might she get called Jess-ie anyway?

Collision · 05/07/2008 16:25

I do think you need something with a sort of full stop at the end IYKWIM.

Evie, Casey and Madge sounds great!

Evie, Casey and Leah
Evie, Casey and Rebecca
Evie, Casey and Alisha
Evie, Casey and Caitlin

Serena
Katrina
Francesca
Ellie
Ruby
????

TBH your girl names are a bit wishywashy and all sort of sound the same.

FoghornLeghorn · 05/07/2008 20:33

I have vetoed Jess because DH wants Jessica shortened to Jess and I don't, I just want Jess but now I'm going off it anyway ....

I like Ruby but it's increasingly popular, as is Ellie.

I quie fancy something ending in an 'a' but nothings doing it for me at the mo ...... defo not madge

I had the same thoughts as you as our first 2 DCs have 'ee' ending names. So we deliberately avoided another 'ee' name for DC3. He is now known almost exclusively by his nickname which has an 'ee' ending!

FoghornLeghorn · 07/07/2008 16:42

OK guys ? we have had another chat and think these are our shortlisted names :

Lara
Jessica
Imogen
Lila

Both are favouring Lara at the minute ? DH really likes Jessica and although I do like it I am put off by how popular it is, DH says it doesn?t matter how popular it is but I?m a bit anal about there being 3 Jessica?s in the class and her always being known as Jessica [surname] because there are more than one of them !

What do we think of the shortlist ?
