Thoughts on my girls name shortlist please?

Hi, I’m currently 6 months pregnant with my second DD. My first is named Charlotte. DH and I have narrowed our choice down to the shortlist below after some negotiation but I’m not sure if any of these names particularly grab me; although I could be overthinking it. What do people think? Tbh I think any of these names would be fine which isn’t particularly helpful 😆 Thanks x

Alice
Lucy
Isabel/Isobel
Beatrice
Eve

I like Alice and Beatrice.

maybe Leonora?

NuffSaidSam · Today 14:57

I agree that any of those names would be fine! They're all classics, not massively overused, go well with Charlotte etc.

I like Beatrice best. Not as common as some of the others and I really like Bea as a shortening (cute on a baby and cool on a teen).

Alice or Lucy.

LoudPlumDog · Today 15:00

Love all your names and that doesn’t happen very often on here.

Charlotte is one of my DD middle names.

Alice is my number one girls name right now, excluding my own DD names.

HighburyHope · Today 15:05

Nice list! I’d put Alice at the top and FWIW Beatrice is my least favourite.

How about Florence?

Chocolatecakelover94 · Today 15:15

Thanks all, I do favour traditional names as I’m sure you can all tell. Although I'm not keen on Florence.
I do like Alice a lot but worry it’s a bit simpering, I haven’t come across any in real life. I think Beatrice is lovely but my DH isn’t 100% as he says he just hears ‘Beat-rice’ ?? Although I think it’s a lovely name.

I love Alice, Lucy, Isabel.
Not keen on Beatrice, Eve.

Other suggestions: Victoria, Louise, Sophie, Anna, Julia, Helen, Susannah

d2finemap · Today 15:56

Alice and Eve are my favourites – feminine and classic without being overused. You mention not having met any Alices... it's so anecdotal but every Alice I've ever met has been brilliant. I really associate the name with smart, kind, interesting girls (and women).

Pallisers · Today 15:57

I have an Alice. She ain't simpering!

NamingNoNames · Today 15:59

@d2finemap , Eve isn't overused but Evie is, and it falls into the Ava, Eva, Ivy, Evelyn names. I like it and Evie but they're too popular.

HollyGolightly4 · Today 16:01

I'm not keen on Eve- too many Evie's about for my liking!

The rest of your names are lovely though! I think i like Beatrice best.

Flannelfeet · Today 16:01

I would change isobel to isabella, but I absolutely love that name.

Favouritefruits · Today 16:05

I really like Lucy, you don’t hear of any baby Lucy’s anymore! It goes great with Charlotte too both classic names! I think with your other names you’ll get at least 1 in her class with the same name.

Names are so interesting. You're absolutely right, I just didn't make that connection because Eve feels so different to Evie (to me).

Topseyt123 · Today 16:06

I'm less keen on Eve though I have nothing actually against it. I'd choose any of the others though. Lovely, classic and timeless names.

Whoops75 · Today 16:08

Do ye shorten Charlotte?

Eg could they be Lottie & Bea if you chose Beatrice?

Pallisers · Today 16:11

Sylvia, Clara and Juliet also fit with your names.

Wherehaveallthesatsumasgone · Today 16:15

I love Alice! In all my years teaching I’ve only ever met one. Met hundreds of Isobels (with various spellings). Think I’ve taught two Lucys. The others are all quite popular.

DramaAlpaca · Today 16:16

I think you need a longer name to balance Charlotte.

Beatrice is lovely, but surely has to be crossed off the list if your DH isn't so keen.

Lucy is gorgeous, but maybe Lucinda shortened to Lucy - Lottie (don't know if you ever call her that) and Lucy is very cute.

I really like Isabella and Susannah from the suggestions above.

JenSCsunny · Today 16:24

i like them all perhaps apart from Eve. I also like Louise, Eleanor and Anna.

No she is just Charlotte :) . I wanted something 2 syllables so they’re similar. I’ve always loved Eve, it’s just a shame that Evie/Evelyn is so popular at the minute as I feel like it’s ruined it!

Eleanor is lovely but I know an Eleanor who has ruined the name for me, unfortunately!

I like them all except Beatrice which I'd also worry might end up as Beatrice. Also Isobel might be having to contently spell out/correct the spelling.

I agree, that something more than 1 syllable would go well. Some others:
-Elizabeth
-Helen
-Carolyn
-Julia
-Juliette
-Corallie
